Hi
Was wondering if anybody has been to BBK Live in recent years, Me & a bunch of mates have purchased tickets for the up & coming event as they were pretty cheap (£75 for the camping weekend) & was looking for any reviews & also how easy is it to pick up tickets from the box office in bilbao.
Any Info on any topics relating to BBK would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Hiya Robert!
Went there last year cause it was a dream line-up with Pearl Jam, Faith No More and many others. This year i'm staying away.
It's a small but really cool festival.
You got 2 stages, but you shouldnt have any problems to see all the acts from line-up. Usually band on stage 1, finishes about 5-10minutes before act on stage B starts a show.
How to get there? - there are loads of free buses goin on from city centre to festival place. And then you have to walk uphill for a few minutes. It's a pain in the back on the first day cause queue is bloody long
. You have to take the same bus to city centre after the gigs (unless u stayin in the camp which is next to festival area).
Picking up the tickets is very easy. Just a couple of seconds. hand them your passport, copy of the mail that show that u bought the tickets.
Tickets for the festival, as u noticed are dead cheap, but being inside the festival area it's very expensive.
I'm pretty sure you gonna enjoy it. Any more questions, just ask

Excellent, thanks for the info, im really looking foward to it as not a lot of poeple seem to know anything about (which personally i think is a good thing). When u say it's really expensive inside what about the surrounding town of bilbao? & is it easy enough to pop in & out of the festival? are you allowed to bring drink & food into the campsite? & one more thing (sorry to be a pain) what time does the festival start & run to?
Thanks again for your reply

You can do some cheap food and drink shopping in many cheap supermarkets around the Bilbao city centre. Sorry but dont remember names right now.
It's not a problem to go in and out of the festival. Just a quick check when you come in.
I havent stayed in camping site, but on a last day we just went in there and had a few beers sitting on a grass by some tents. So i assume there's no problem bringing your own food and drink into a camping site. I am sure that you can bring some food into festival area like a sandwich for example.
Just remember that i brought an open plastic bottle of water in. Security guy just smelled to be sure it wasnt an alcohol, opened it and let me in.
What time it starts?
last year
- thursday - start 5:30. headliner - Rammstein - 11:50 after that on a smaller stage another act at 1:40am
- friday - start 4:30. headliner - Pearl Jam - 00:30 smaller stage - Dropkck Murphys - 02:15
- saturday - start 4:30. headliner - Faith No More - 00:50 smaller stage - Jet - 02:25
usually finished about 3-3.30 a.m There's also a dance tent, but they played some good music like Joy Division, Nirvana etc...

I'll back up what Pete says... awesome little festival. Not my cup of tea lineup-wise this year but the setting is the best festival location i've ever been to. We stayed in the city centre and caught the bus very day. The bus runs from the San Mames (Atheltic Bilbao's stadium) and runs constantly until the festival closes. Also, walked to the city centre on two of the nights as quite a lot of people did. It's about a 45 min walk but its good fun with a few beers inside you. I'm off to sample Optimus Alive in Lisbon this year which runs across the same weekend.

Hey guys, i'm also looking at doing this and wondered about the camping arrangements. Can you camp before the Thursday like you can with Leeds etc? Looking at getting to Bilbao on the 5th so less time we have to get hotel/hostel = more money for beer!

Just noticed Amy Winehouse has pulled out of BBK Bilbao as she's a mess again, according to the website they are gonna search for a new act to take her place. Be interesting to see who they get especially as Benicassim apparantly couldn't finalise their Thursday headliner over the past few months.
4 of us set off for Bilbao in exactly 2 weeks, drive to Bilbao from Newcastle for BBK, then a day in Pamplona for the bull run then down to Benicassim to meet 4 more mates for our traditional week at the best festival in Europe.
Anyone else doing BBK? From all the research i have done it seems like a pretty small festival with some pretty big names. Gonna be a great couple of weeks no matter what, roll on the 5th July!!!

I'm pretty much doing the exact same! Flying to BBK, heading to pamplona and then on to Beni! As far as I can remember we are staying in Bilboa on the 10th, driving to pamplona on the 11th, doing the bull run on the 12th and driving to Beni after the run. Should get there at ssome time in the evening on the 12th.
I think its great news that Amy winehouse has pulled out, was confused as to why she was headlning anyway. I think it is prbably too late to get another headliner so they will most likely push kasabian to headline, great news!

we're doing the bull run on the morning of the 11th, didn't realise it was at 8am after a full night of partying, driving to valencia for a night in a hotel then down to Benicassim on the 12th!
As for Amy Winehouse i'm with you on that,i'm hoping they push Kasabian up and get Foals added to the bill, they're on in Lisbon on the Saturday so not too far. Line up for Lisbon is pretty similar to BBK so some bands on that line up are probably the most likely!
Counting the days now!!!!

Reviewed the plan and your dates are actually better, plan adjusted accordingly. Fancy a race to Beni?
I dont think im gonna be going wild on the night of the 10th, with the bull run so early followed by a six hour drive it would be horrible, considering what will be before and after, I think a night off might be a good idea!
