Much as I was rather disgusted with the whole "f*** off" thing, I have to say, you're pretty much spot on with every single word here.

alright then, don't believe me. Im just trying to help out by saying what i have been told but obviously you guys can't seem to see what this forum is about. Its about helping people find out the lineup and all i was doing along with what everyone else on these forums do is share what they have been told but whatever.

I've been coming here for almost a year now - I don't presume to think I know everything about it, and it's certainly not my place to act as if I somehow know more than everybody else with regards to the forum's objectives, but you can rest assured that one of the objectives is DEFINITELY not to supply misinformation as you quite clearly are.

Coming here and giving wishlists is fine - predictions like your last one are fine too because it provokes discussion and gets people talking in a reasonable and sensible manner. Nothing wrong with that. Masquerading your own personal band preferences as fact, as a genuine line-up, pisses people off, and as much as you clearly wish to strive for some relevancy on here, there must be a better way of doing it than supplying nothing but bullshit for people to argue about.

We all know what this forum board is all about, thats why we have all been here for a while.

What you have have done is completly the opposite, you have came on here and mis-led people with this line-up. Furhtermore you admit that your source is only 80% correct last year, so its basically all guesswork anyway.

We only discuss the headliners and possibly subs becasue thats all that would possibly be leaked at this time. We don't usually start to get a picture of who is playing until festivals that happen around the same time as R&L are announced.

Plucking a lineup out of thin air isn't helpful.

@theloveofmusic1, so is this or is this not the same person who told you Fall Out Boy are headlining NME this year less than a week ago?

I don't doubt that there are a few bands on that list who are appearing at Reading and Leeds - it's not completely devoid of common sense - but then since about September, 20 or 30 other people have 'predicted' the same bands as well.

The difference between the harmless prediction threads and the dangerous 'genuine line-up' threads is that the people that make the predictions don't aim to be elevated to higher status, and the people who create the 'genuine line-up' threads do. WHY anybody wishes to do such is a thing is a matter for a psychological study, but on here - where psychology means sod all - all it serves to do is piss people off, and believe it or not we don't like that because we're more prone to having casual discussions about how shit X band is and how great Y band is, and why the music industry is evil (or some other irrelevant and irreverent bollocks).

What you're doing is revealing to a message board on the internet a line-up to one of the biggest festivals in the world - that's a tremendous ask for somebody to do when they've made maybe a handful of unimportant messages that have been, for the most part, ignored, and then to justify WHY this line-up is legitimate by (seemingly) supplying the name of some randomly picked A&R rep who represents a small, obscure record label that doesn't have any of the bands that are on the list you supplied anyway.

Even worse than that DaveTH. Putting people off a festival that could be 10 times better than that on a personal note, maybe even making some part with their cash for another festival.

Or on the other hand persuading people to hold onto their money to spend it on a ticket to R&L when they may already like another line-up which may sell out before they get a chance to buy...

As i also said, last year he got it 80% right pretty much because he probably doesn't know the whole lineup but most of it.

So why doesn't he just give you the 80% that is right, the bands he does know will play intead of a full & flawed line up?

Indeed. It's something that's quite a dangerous thing. To masquerade it as genuine affects people, sometimes, on a deeply personal level, and I alluded to that level of intrusiveness before. I'll happily hold up my hands and say there's no excuse for me to turn around and tell somebody to f**k off before they even have a chance to speak but after the frustration and irritance that was OKB, it's entirely understandable why somebody would become even more annoyed when the same sort of thing has happened, only on a more self-assured level.

What's more troubling is that - if this is misinformation, the guy from BPM Entertainment has been roped into this as well. I don't know who is reading this forum but I have been assured that it's quite an important place for information regarding festivals, so potentially a lot of important people (who aren't afraid to make a few phone calls) could make his life hell pestering him for information that the OP claims to have.

What the OP has done is actually a lot worse than what OKB did because he's given a relatively plausible source for what appears to be completely implausible misinformation.

Me neither, it's very tame. Apart from MCR it could quite easily be a V line-up.

That's what Kev's talking about.

One of the reasons why I actually went to Leeds last year was because the advice I received from people on here last year met all of my expectations. I spent £400+ of my money assuring that I got tickets to one of the best festivals in the world based on the facts supplied to me, or what I at least presumed were the facts.

If I went based on what somebody like the OP has given today last year, I'd have wasted my money - not that I'd be stupid to do that anyway; but some people are, and I think it's pathetic that somebody would lie about something as important as the actual Reading and Leeds line-up when so many people on here, evidentally, care about it.

If I had a mate in the know , I would check his work first , and before I posted triple check
how bands that are not active or played last year would be in the line up

The thing is if we put our minds to it

1 Rumours                                                             - The Strokes
2 Likely to play ie new album out , not played last year , doing well - White Lies
3 Usually                                                             - Some pretend Irish , American act
4 Please the kids

We woul prob do a better job than some of the so call leaked line up

No I didn't know that. Probably because they're not.
