Why is everyone so sure Arcade Fire are playing and quite confident they would be on before U2?  Have I missed something?  I thought they hated playing Glasto last time, were very vocal about it to the point of almost ruling out a return in future???
I don't rate them personally so couldn't care less, but it's confusing me why all the fans seem so bullish.

It seems to have come from a combination of first, a lot of people wanting it to be true. Then an interview Win Butler did with Zane Lowe where although he didn't deny it outright and backtracked a bit on his distaste for Glastonbury. Lastly, Neil said he'd heard bits that put them somewhere between Runour and Strong Rumour.

That then seems to become a given on the forum with those desperate for it to happen drowning out all others. It's unfortunate because it's reaching the stage now where people are calling other acts a step down and will be upset with the real line-up because a load of acts that were never anything more than rumours (AF, The Stones, Prince, The Strokes)) aren't on there, which of course isn't Glastonbury's fault

Oh no it's going to be a U2-Arcade Fire-Bright Eyes clash isn't it? It just is.

Oh. God.

Ah, wishful thinking extremism.  Cheers for the summary.

this isnt a new reaction and pretty much happens every year with first the "got to be radiohead" debate and then following the announcement of headline acts the "cant believe theyre playing and not radiohead" debate. Im sure in a couple of years time the same arguements will still be raging strong. It does at times make interesting if repetative reading
