Hi, I understand that in 2010 there was a recreation of a NY 70's gay bar. Did of you visit it and if so what was it like? This year will be my first Glasto and I wanna take it as much as I can, which will hopefully include Shangri-la and the thought of the 70's disco really appeals to me aswel as Bez's Acid House disco. Were they off the hook or crap?

It was brilliant, you needed to have facial hair to get in, so they were selling fake moustaches which you could use for the weekend to gain access.
I visited a few times over the weekend and the music was always great. Highlight was the drag act who came out dressed in a popes hat and denim hot pants with a huge fake cock hanging out!

Thats it.
Did anyone else get caught with the wheelie bin that popped open when you walked past it?? It was just next to the NYC downlow.
Scared the shit out of me one of the nights last year!!

so what is the best time to be heading down to these places if you want to be sure of getting in? These places are one of the main things that I am looking forward to at Glasto.

Before the headliners finish, unless you want to be herded around (it gets massively busy after the music has stopped).

Where's Block 9 in relation to Shangri La and Arcadia? I can't see it on the map.

Its across from the train in the building in Block 9.
Heres a mate of mine jumping up onto the roof of it. Very drunken and anti Glasto I know but very very funny at the time. He bought the coat for a fiver about an hour before.

Love the NYC Downlow, such a great addition since 2007.
Hint, there always seems to be a big queue outside but when you get in there's room enough - often seems to be the case in the late night areas people seem to mooch around outside
