Joan Baez would be magnificent though I fear unlikely on a relatively small stage.  The last time she played the Acoustic in 2008 - same year as Leonard Cohen - she was wonderful.  I was in floods of tears as she sang 'There But For Fortune' and a guy standing next to me asked: "Are you alright mate?" to which I could only say "Yes, it's just beautiful."

She really is someone who's grown old gracefully.  Her voice has dropped and mellowed but her heart is still in the right place.

Diamonds and Rust, about her relationship with Dylan is wonderful and says a lot.

My guess is they will programme a whole bunch of acts that fit in with the '71 vibe rather than just recreate the line up. So you could well have Curved Air, Space Ritual,Gong,Steve Hillage Band, Arthur Brown, Shpongle, Raja Ram (who used to lead Quintessence), Eat Static,Tim Blake, Terry Reid, etc, etc.

Even if every one is right, thats not nearly enough to fill the time, so I'm hoping for some rule bending to allow in the Ozrics, Aswad, Stackridge, the Bard of Salford, oh my word, the list goes on.

As in JCC? That would be great.

Can't wait to find out the line-up for this stage.

I'm hoping Winwood will turn up.  He's playing the RAH in May/June, but nothing is mentioned beyond that at the moment on his website.  This year sees the reissue of John Barleycorn Must Die as a special 2 disc deluxe edition so he might be on the bill.

Joan Baez would be amazing too and I reckon the Crazy World of Arthur Brown would be fun - does he still have a crown of fire?

I was going to respond by saying "TW*T!" but then thought that - speaking as an outsider - it mind be misunderstood

A great idea - As one who was there - Traffic and Family stood out. Melanie played at Dawn on Summer Solstice and sang a song she had written about Glastonbury called Ring the living bell, shine the living light. Arthur Brown is always excellent - then and now and such a pleasant human being. Marsupulami was one of the first bands I remember seeing there and was a great introduction. Mighty Baby's 'Blanket in my Muesli' on the album is a classic. Bowie was pre-Ziggy of course. I had recently been present when he played in the Gun PH in Croydon when a member of a theatre group and talked all through his set as I was 16 and drunk on cider. Of course I missed him at Glastonbury Fayre - probably waffling or rapping as we said then. Oh and Gong... I think most all of the music was excellent and if the Spirit of... stage does have some of the spirit of the Fayre it will be the only place to be. There was lots of multi-media, no hype, little pretentiousness, a lot of sharing and much good conversation. Thank you Andrew and the late great Bella, thank you very much. Oh, and it was all free!
