OK - i'm a long time lurker and occasional contributor to these forums, what has happened to it, it has lost all the spirit of Glastonbury for me.

All the topics ever seem to be these days is speculating/dreaming/w*nking about the line up, Glastonbury is so much more than this.

Where is the camaraderie, passion and community?

There's a lot of community, support and advice in the Glastonbury Questions Forum, as opposed to the Glastonbury Chat Forum.

Sadly, I don't think the Chat will change a lot once the line up is announced.  Instead of 'I hope X will play' it will turn to a divsion about whether X is a brilliant band or rubbish.

You're right that Glasto is about so much more than the music but still buried away there are a lot of threads about the non music side of Glasto.  Have a hunt and bump a few up.

Think Neil should set up a line up speculation sub forum for this - but then that would just encourage them!!!

tbh without the music side would it be here? or at least as big as it allowing Glastonbury to offer everything else it does for us :)

What you rather we discussed? sharing e-beers and such? :P actually where did the camp fire thread go?

Any forum is what the the contributors make it. I try my best, but some people here are blinkered, I am too, but there is always a tune coming in, to get one exited about. Wait till April or May, into the realistic time zone. The Streets might do a farewell appearance for instance.

I think I may be like you in that I'm a lurker and don't really contribute unless theres someone asking a question. Of which I was one a couple of days ago and got an answer.

We live on a great island where theres loads to do for the 50 other weeks of the year without looking out for the brothers countdown to Glasto.

BTW its going to be

Pyrumad Stag
BABBA
By-Yawn Again
The Hollies
Good Morning FLorence
U2
Lady Goo Goo
P Dizzle Rasckle

Other Stage
Wedding Present
Half Man Half Cockie
Pixies
Pop Will Eat its KFC
Gong
CArters |Unstoppable Tape-2-tape

The Park
TBS
TBC
TBA
Usher

I know this to be a fact cos Winston told me

PS I forgot to put a smiley face at the end ;0

but PWEI-KFC are nailed on but not on the Other Stage they'll be on trapeze in the Kidz Field

You mean like the plans for the next charity football game and the blog about shangir-la's plans?

If people want to argue about line-ups and big up their favourite bands, it's no big deal. It's pretty easy to avoid those threads. I agree it's a bit much when the whole front page is made up of band names, but there's plenty of camaraderie and banter within. The REM one was hilarious in it's way.

Why not start a thread about something worthy of discussion instead of moaning about a lack of interesting things to talk about.? Just saying :)

Yeah and the meeting at the cider bus – “Pints are on me mate”, “looking forward to seeing you this year” etc etc.

What a bunch of cold hearted bastards.

I'm not really in any position to get the old soapbox out and do the "Glasto forum isn't as good as it used to be" kinda thing as I don't think I've been around long enough to be able to in any way justify making such comments.  But one of the points that usually gets trotted out by those who do consider that they know what they're on about is generally along the lines of: There are too many spectators and not enough participants these days - almost everyone is hanging around waiting to be entertained rather than making any kinda effort to contribute to the entertainment themselves.

Hmmmm, definitely not intended to be a bit of a dig at the OP and all that but there just has to be more than the merest hint truth there I think.  Starting some interesting topic(s), discussion(s) or whatever rather than simply suggesting that there isn't anything interesting or glasto-like going on would perhaps have been a much better approach methinks.  A festival, forum or just about anything else really can almost always be as good as those in attendance want it to be ... providing that they're prepared to contribute in some way or other to make it what they want it to be of course :)

Never heard of them. No way they should be higher on the bill than REM though.

Don't think they are as quiet as I have seen for this time of year in the past tbh, though regrettably I think many have defected to Facebook for their chats and dicussions now . . .
