Arcade Fire headlined L&R and are doing loads of festivals this year and will probably do glasto. they are also getting more famous by the day so will it be them next year everyone is slagging off?
of course they will as soon as they get popular enough for it to happen :P

They'll be put in the "sold out" area :P

No, because Arcade Fire have successfully released three incredible records without moving away from their traditional values etc. Someone rightly called them the biggest underground band in the world.

It's usually the case that when a band gets popular they generally get worse because they have nothing to aim for and they start to get lazy. Arcade Fire have been consistantly good, even recently when they've had mainstream success. Hot Fuss was brilliant but it got The Killers big therefore they felt they could do anything they wanted. As have Kings of Leon and many other bands. It's not a case of "selling out" or "getting popular". Selling out doesn't mean playing large festivals. Selling out means Iggy Pop appearing on car insurance ads. It's just a case of bands turning lazy as soon as they break into the mainstream.

I like other bands that are popular (e.g. Coldplay), am I allowed to not like the Killers?

Let me know a.s.a.p.

Why thank you.

I actually thought there was some good stuff on their third album. Main reason being it didn't really sound like the Killers. Apart from that, not a fan. Saw them at Leeds in 2005, very very dull.

Hot Fuss is a great, great album and I saw them touring it.  They had energy and were hungry and it was a top gig.  I didn't like Sam's Town and only gave the third album 1 listen as it did nothing for me.

I don't dislike them because they got popular.  Having become successful, they became lazy and shit (like a good proportion of acts do) and I dislike them because they are lazy and shit.

I still listen to and love Hot Fuss.  Wouldn't bother seeing them live though, just for 3/4 tracks off it.

Are they back in the studio? It seems a bit strange that they would 'comeback' from their hiatus without any new material.

Personally I think all 3 albums are worth a listen. Even Day and Age has a few good tracks. It mainly upset the diehard fans because it was a bit of a change in direction for them and nothing like the first 2.

I saw them twice in 2009 though and they were great, I think Brandon was criticised for having no stage presence early on.

The solo album was certainly shit mind!
