Sub if they do, i hope they dont!

eFestivals believes that they'll headline the main stage.
They're a marmite act, but they're more than capable of being the headliner - them being nominated for NME best album of the year gets to show that.
And them being marmite is shown by them also being nominated for NME worst album of the year too.

Is this the same act which got bottled last time they played???
Ah well, if i go, i can leave early...

There are 7 stages at Leeds, Id be watching somthing else! Im a Marmite fan, and love that anology of MCR... The Offspring would be a better alternative!

If they headline, I hope Pixies headline the tent.
I honestly think they'll sub.

I prepare to be hated & ridiculed here, but...
I think MCR's last 2 albums haven't been that bad, hated them like everyone else at the peak of the emo culture, but since then I daresay they are quite decent. *recoils in terror*

I hope to God there's a good tent headliner that night. My overriding memory of MCR is the lead singer going on about the Daily Mail last time they played at Reading.

LoL. Cheers for replying Neil.
i've seen Them live and i agree they'd be capable of it, its just interesting as its such a risky booking, its not going to look good on them if a headliner act is bottled :/ . (has that ever happend at reading?)
would it be fair to say that perhaps they've been booked to cause a little bit of controversy? as we all know controversy attracts a lot of attention. I.e Jay-z at glastonbury 2008

I still laugh when they were going to lead a protest of thousands of thier fans against the Daily Mail and only a handfull showed up.

Now, people are banging on about how Arcade Fire couldn't be less than a headliner anywhere they played, only as a result of them successfully headlining Reading. Spot the similarity?i've seen Them live and i agree they'd be capable of it, its just interesting as its such a risky booking, its not going to look good on them if a headliner act is bottled :/ . It's the case that I don't know for certain that MCR are headlining Reading this year, but I've had info telling me that they are from two very reliable sources who have a proven history of being correct with the tips they give me. On the basis of what those two people have told me, I think it's highly likely that what they've told me is correct.

I couldnt imagine them being anything other than main stage headliners. I would suspect if they released an album the same day as last years 3 headliners it would be them who would sell the most. With guitar music not selling as much in the last few years as in the period 1995-2005, I think it will become common for bands to headline who dont seem as big as bands that healdined in the past, I think last yera was the start and the trend will continue.

someone good in the tent please

Probably will headline..
I won't be there though, I'd rather clean the portaloo's.

If they play they will no doubt headline.
Unless there is an absolutly huge act above them(which I can't see happening)and they sub-headline.
There is no way on earth they would be in the tent as headliners too big. I think maybe 3rd-5th top main are similar stature to headlining the tent.
Its a shame because I personally would much prefer someone else.
MCR are a similar stature to Arcade fire from last year. IMO though I can only see Arcade fire going one way and getting bigger, whereas I think MCR will only go one way and that way is down. I couldn't imagine MCR announcing a massive show in Hyde park.

i'd say my chemical romance are at that stage inbetween second top and headlining. if they do play i imagine they will headline the main stage, and i think they should.

I can't say I'm a fan, I've got mates who are into them though... Fingers crossed there'll be something awesome up against them otherwise I'll either be dragged along or back at the tent drinking alone :/

It'll be like Blink - people assuming Green Day must be playing above them, then they don't, they get a massive crowd and all is well for another year.
It's also the only way MCR are going to inject some life into this tour.

I think it actually makes for the best peformances when a band is in this kind of position. With someone like Chillis, Kings of Leon etc they've been there and done it and there's nothing special about the performance for them. With MCR this would probably be the most important gig (at least in the UK) of their career, as I'd say it was with Blink and Arcade Fire, and I think that comes through in the performances.

they'd be great headliners and would be nowhere near the weakest that R+L has had.
