Exactly, there's been a few times I've read here that they've been away for so long when really they played two massive gigs last year.
Now consider the amount in stirling and faffing around it takes to get to IOW, which would alienate the younger crowd reading and leeds attracts.

This is their comeback year, the frontman even said in an interview that the strokes didn't have plans for 2010, but that the money got that stupidly high that they couldn't turn down the offers.

What are you going on about? I didn't plan on being late to work this morning but I came in late and it still counts as me being late regardless of me planning it or not, like Strokes didn't plan on headling Isle Of Wright & Rockness last year but they still did.

Though The Strokes did play IOW and Rockness last year, neither are one of the really big festivals in the country, and they're both at such extreme ends of the country. This is the year they're really coming back for most people.

I think they're fairly similar to Blink 182 in that at some other festivals they'd be a fairly weak headliner, but they're close to perfect to headline R/L. Amongst the audience R/L cater for, The Strokes would be a very popular booking, as a lot of them will barely have had the chance to see them. They are pretty much living off the quality of Is This It now, and I've got a feeling the new albums gonna be shite, but they can definitely headline.

Also, on the subject of Pixies, NME headliner would be fantastic.

You can't compare them to Arcade Fire, they are a band on the up and Strokes are a band on the down. The first festival I ever went to was headlined by Strokes at their peak and there was huge gaps in crowd and I thought that was normal, the next 2 nights was Foos & Prodigy which were packed out.

I tend to disagree with the band on the down statement, with them headlining festivals all over the world and with a new album coming out surely they are on the up, they have a large fanbase. Their first album was their best, but that can easily be said for a lot of large bands at the moment (considered that funeral is the best arcade fire album by a lot of fans), but they followed up with 2 good albums with each of them having a few really good tracks giving them a very decent back catologue, with new material and they have a good headline set. IOW had a very large crowd, and was no gaps where i was, which was quite far back, as couldnt push any further forward.

The point was that they were a few select shows, and that they did them to make a truckload of money which is fair enough. However, it can't be perceived as their comeback as they had nothing to promote, and were doing it simply to line their pockets (Like qotsa last year, had nothing to promote, just played for the hell of it).
