Saw them last night at The 02 - great gig.
Last time I'd seen them was Glasto in 03 I think it was.
Would be great to have there next year. Discuss.

word i've had is that they're likely to only play one festival - so I'd suspect that won't be Glastonbury as they'd be most likely to go for the big payday.
I reckon that if that's right and they only do one, then the one is most likely to be Latitude.

I'd love to see them again even though when i saw them in 2003 i thought it was rubbish, really just going through the motions.
I reckon headlining Latitude would be good, but would be happy to see them on top of bill in John peel. not sure they have the pull to headline other stage though, i can never work it out with bands that haven't been around for a while.

I agree, which is why I'm not too bothered about seeing them back. I saw them a few times in the 90's/early 00's and that Glastonbury gig in 2003 was the worst by some distance

I'd love to see them p;lay but sadly it's looking highly unlikely.

I really hope you're wrong. They were my favourite group when I was a wee teenager and I had tickets for last night at the O2 but unfortunately I have been very ill for about the the last three weeks and so had to give the tickets away to a mate. He said they were amazing and I was really hoping that Brett's "We haven't considered anything yet but we would consider anything we were offered" comments on Tuesday meant they were a good likelihood for Other Stage or JP. I can't go to Latitude and I will be devestated if I don't get to see them whilst they're back together.

I would love to see them. Missed them first time round would be great to see them now. They look like a band got fed up of touring near the end and broke up. But now they have a new lease and are enjoying it again, and they look really brilliant live.

Neil Codling played Glastonbury as part of Music from the Penguin Cafe Orchestra back in '09. I imagine that's the closest we'll be getting. I'm not bothered much either way. I love Suede but I agree with the above comments. I don't think they're a festival band. They're a cold-weather, characterful-hall, type band. That's why I didn't bother with the 02 gig on Tuesday. If they played Glatsonbury, I would probably go see them, but I'd prefer Mansun to come along.

"The London Suede" are on the bill for the Saturday at Coachella. As I recall this IS Suede (due to some issue with another band in the US having used "Suede" as their name - like The Dust/Chemical Brothers) so firstly, can anyone confirm it is Brett et al. and secondly does this make Glastonbury more likely for this year?

It's worth remembering that this is a reform, so it's likely that they'll go for the big pay-days which might well rule them out from playing Glasto, because the big pay-days are likely to want some exclusivity.

At least they're out and about so I still might get to see them but Latitude's out for me (it's hard enough getting agreement that I can have a day off from teaching to get to Glastonbury) so I really hope they crop up somewhere else as well. I'm clinging to the belief that because Suede and The Tears have had good gigs at Glasto in the past that they still may turn up as JP headliners or subbing the Other Stage headliners one night.
I was sure I had an import "Dog Man Star" with "The London Suede" written on the front - I'll have to try and find it when I get home now.

All makes a lot of sense

Having seen them twice last year I confirm that they're definitely not going through the motions any more. Both gigs were amazing. The band seem to be enjoying themselves too, Brett was sporting a massive grin a lot of the time.

Excellent news! "Dog Man Star" in full (with full strings section?) anywhere at Glasto would surely be the most exhilarating moment of my gigging life! How about Suede sub the Other Stage Friday, Saturday and Sunday playing all three albums?! It would be amazing. Plus, if rumours are true, you could have consecutive Mercury prize-winning albums back-to-back on the Friday, albeit the wrong way round (see Primal Scream thread).

Would like to see them again for old times sake if nothing else but Dog Man Star without Bernard would be pants.

Easily solved - get Bernard to play! It's not like he's not on good terms with Brett anymore (The Tears; went to see them at comeback gig). In fairness, if he just played "The Asphalt World" with them it would be worth it.

Suede are playing 3 nights in London (May 19-21) and playing one of each of the first 3 albums each night. I'd be tempted to go see them at Glastonbury, but I'm not a huge fan of the playing a classic album in full gigs, blatant cash grab IMO. I've seen a couple, Love's Forever Changes in 2003 in London, and that was excellent, and Pixies at Brixton doing Doolittle, which was good but a very short set.

They're offering a 3 night pass for the Brixton shows for £75 - really looking forward to these! It's not the first time they've played these albums in full either - they did all 5 albums across 5 nights at the ICA in (I think) 2002.
I'm a huge Suede fan, so this is a biased opinion, but the reunion shows last year were stunningly good (and I do know a few non-fans who thought the same!). I'd agree they're not a natural festival band, but then I thought they'd struggle with the O2 and that was a blindingly good show. If they do play then John Peel would be ideal, but also think they've got the songs to play a great set at say third on the Pyramid. If you look at the set list from the O2, (http://www.setlist.f...d-4bd29b96.html) and think you'd need to drop half those songs what's left would make an excellent 50 min set, even for those with only a passing knowledge of their music!
