Theres a decent chance they'll be playing now that it looks like they'll be touring next year after being announced for IOW. They headlined V and T last year and they haven't stated that IOW is an exclusive either so if they are to play other UK festivals theres only really Glastonbury or Leeds/Reading out of the major ones. I can see them possibly being on before the headliners on one of the nights.

NOOO!
Next time they play it will surely have to be headlining, they won't sub again!

I was thinking their next appearance will be as headliner but now its came apparent that they're touring next year I just can't see them headlining it. I think 2012 would have been the time for them to headline when their new album is out and they're well into their tour but with no Glastonbury and the fact they will probably be finished their tour by June 2013 its next year or 4/5 years away really.

They won't accept anything other than a headline slot and they won't get offered one for next year.

I think they're supposed to be recording the album next year. I can't see them just playing the one festival in June then not touring until winter 2011. They sub-headlined T In The Park this year didn't they? I'm sure they would accept that if they got offered it at Glastonbury this year. It just makes sense really if they aren't gonna play any other major uk festivals and they won't have the chance to play Glastonbury until 2014 assuming they're not touring in 2013.

I doubt they'll headline till after the fallow year, coz they only sub-headlined last year...plus they were festival whores this year and played just about everywhere lol.
I wouldn't mind them appearing at some point coz I like their music (even if they are a bit crap live) but they won't take anything less than a headline slot at Glasto I reckon

I'm surprised by you saying "I like their music (even if they are a bit crap live)" tho, cos the general opinion seems to be the opposite of that - that their albums are bit crap, but they're excellent live.

Oh really? Have you heard anything with regards to them playing other festivals/gigs then or is IOW looking like a one off for next summer?

Right thanks for that information. Surprised they're bothering playing IOW then its quite a random thing to do if it turns out to be the only thing they do.
While you're around i've got one more question which you might or might not have any information about. The Prodigy have said they're flat out recording for most of 2011 and won't be playing that many gigs, but they are playing the odd european festival and theres always the chance they could do more. Have you had any hints with regards to any uk festival appearances, gigs or maybe even another Warriors Dance festival?

I was due to go to Isle of Wight for the first time next year (having not got Glasto tickets). Today's announcement means I probably won't. Not sure I can justify £175 just to see Pulp.
Looks like I'll have to pin all my hopes on the resale - and Latitude.

A very average live band if you ask me, I'd feel short changed seeing them as a headline act anywhere.

I think of all the big 'indie' guitar bands they're definately one of the better live bands. The albums usually have 3 or 4 good tunes but the rest are fillers in my opinion.
I still think they need another album under their belt before they can be regarded as headline material.

Their album sales say they're going backwards with their appeal, so unless they're able to talk themselves up into being regarded as something they're not really (and they've been very successful with talking themselves up so far; they remind me very much of another band
) I can't see how a canny festie organiser would go for them outside of being desperate to find a headliner.

It is all obviously opinions but I thought they were absolute pants in '09. I was really looking forward to them too.

+1
Apart from the lead singer shouting "Glastonbury show me you're hands" a few times he had no charisma what so ever but that's just my opninion and I'm sure others see differently.
