i were only joking :P

but nah, if i thought i was that good looking, i wouldn't have many problems. as the fear of rejection would be much less.

Don't be so hard on yourself, I think you're at least on par with Cartman. :P

One thing I use to do when I was young was to have all my friends around so we get talking and my jokes are funny, my opinions are valued etc. and use a bit of momentum and talk to a girl.

yeah suppose that's a good tip. but when you see someone in the shops or wherever that you like and you're on your tod, it's not very helpful. perhaps think of times past with friends when i was great? :P

For a lot of us it is all about personality

Also Sara - the men that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter. There are a surprising amount of men out there who don't actually want a stick insect.

I'm enormous at the moment and old and if i was at all interested i would still be getting some. I do have days where i look at myself and think why would anyone want that! But if you are confident, intelligent and have a personality that's all you need. If you don't have those things (which i'm sure you do) losing weight is not going to make things better. Though obviously being slim and healthy is better for you than not.

So i'm not saying don't lose weight.

You're gorgeous no matter what weight you are, even if you do like Take That and Soaps!

P.S. I think there is a girl at work who fancies me. Not sure how to deal with girl signals myself!. I'm not interested as i'm not gay but she is really lovely i almost feel like i shouldn't pass up the opportunity. i will though, she has a girlfriend anyway. Still properly flattered! :D

Ahh i think it will help me though!!

My problem is i'd rather be approached, than approach someone.

This! Most of the guys who have ever hit on me have said that they like that I'm a bit squishy and I'm not just skin and bone. I enjoy having a little bit of podge!

That said, I've let myself go a little lately and could really do with losing a few pounds...

Yep and can get a proper hug without fear of hurting someone! :)

I know what you mean i've never approached anyone in my life - i've always been surprised when someone comes on to me too  i think it's just if you have confidence etc then you exude attractiveness. If you get that confidence from losing weight that that's brilliant - i just don't think its healthy to think that men won't like you because you're podgy/plump/overweight, cus its not true. :)

Well there was a lengthy coversation by text about highland elephants and haggis migrations. This was before we even met, think it told us a lot that conversation. :D

You're going upto randoms and randomly mentioning films & bands? No wonder you're having trouble.

Be casual and if you're waiting for a drink by a bar mention something about the service, if you see a girl with a tattoo compliment her on it, if you see a girl on the daily commute just say hi and ask if she gets off at whatever stop as you've noticed her every day etc and take it from there and let the chat flow this is more basic social skills than pulling advice. Small talk is only used to find something you can talk about, you see it on threads all the time when people start talking about something and it leads to something else which wasn't planned.
