For those who don't know, Andrew was the guy behind 1971's Glastonbury Fayre (or Fair, as Andrew originally did it) along with Bella Churchill - which is what the modern festival has grown out of.
Andrew has had an interesting and varied life which has included being a researcher on the major biography of Winston Churchill, all being revealed in his memoirs which are being published in June 2011 - 40 years since Glastonbury Fair. He moved (back?) to Pilton a few years ago after living in various places including a Scottish croft and the USA.
He gave me a flier for his book, which says ....
He's "been a gardener, minicab driver, historian, sailor, farmer, TV researcher and festival starter. He has met Jimi Hendrix, Princess Margaret, Winston Churchill, and The Grateful Dead. He can build dry stone walls, shear sheep and navigate sea-going vessels. He is enthusiastic about numerology and ley lines. For someone who was at the start of the green movement he doesn't bang on about it".
When I was speaking to him today, he said every boat he's ever been on has sunk.
(... so I asked him if he was related to Derek Trotter
He told me that the book contains a fair chunk about Glastonbury Fair, as well stuff about as the Whole Earth Show, a festival he put on in Dorset in 1994 ... which failed.
I reckon it'll be a cracking read.
