Blew KOL away last night on jools....

Have seen this band live at a few folk festivals - and I think they would be a superb late afternoon Pyramid surprise.

Easily dramatic and lively enough, they would be a crowd pleaser.  Or maybe the first slot on a Sunday - historically used for a surprising band.

Headlining Avalon or the Acustic is more their natural "home"..or 2nd/3rd on Jazzworld/Holts...but I think they would be a surprise hit on the biggie..

I've been a bit bored of KOL in the last 12 months but they where class last night but you've got muppets jumping on the " its fashionable to slate KOL" band wagon.

I enjoy a few folk-leaning bands, thought they don't have to necessarily be mainstream folk.  I saw Bellowhead at the Trowbridge Festival a couple of years ago and they were very good.  Equally I'd love to see Trowbridge stalwarts Show of Hands and Seth Lakeman at Glasto again.

f**king hell, I know there's a full on 80s revival, but that's an exact photocopy  of the Oyster Band's version of that song (New York Girls). I know it's a folk song and traditional and everybody sings it as a standard but evens the vocals sound similar to my ears.

It's not bad, mind, I quite like it but I'd like a bit more uniqueness (is that a word?)

Uniquity?

Nah, that can't be right.

Musically they're far better now than they've ever been before (as you'd expect), and they are great live. But, their last two albums are just boring. (With the exception of a couple of songs, notably Closer which is brilliant).
U2 ruined them. Unfortunate fact.

I prefer Jim Moray's more recent cover to Bellowhead's

If you're looking for an original and up coming folk/roots band who would be just right for the acoustic stage at glasto' then there's a Canadian band going by the name of 'Headwater' coming to the end of an European tour right now (although 'european tour' makes it sound a lot grander than it is - i think they're just going round folk clubs in a transit van).  i saw them do a free gig at BBC Radio Lancashire last month and the set they played absolutely stormed the place.  Moreover, they hung around for a good while afterwards and were happy to chat to anyone who came up to them - ranging from teenagers to people well in their 60's.  A really good band and really nice guys who capture the 'spirit' of Glastonbury - reminded me of the 'old' days of Glasto when you'd often come across the performers in the 'public' bars (rather than esconced in their 'celebrity access only areas') and they'd all be happy to share a few words with whoever wanted to go up to them.

Saw them in Exeter on their last UK tour and have to agree with you.

Sounds good. I'll keep an eye out for them. Thanks

Started listening to Bellowhead apropos of their appearance on West Holts.

Good stuff, I must say.  I get the Oysterband similarities, but can still imagine they're a riot live.
