Brilliant. I love the readers comments at the end. Its amazing how so many people can be filled with so much hatred for anything outside their normal life. Proper idiots

And frustratingly they now select which comments to post up there, so all the responses telling them what a steaming pile of **** their story is just get lost in the ether.  Damn you Daily Mail!!!

Daily Mail were the only paper to support the fascists in the   1930s.

I've read loads of things saying Michael Eavis has denied the festival isn't on in 2012 because of the Olympics, but I swear to god in the Q&A session he said 2012 was picked as the fallow year over say 2011 or 2013 because of the games.

I suppose it doesn't matter, there's gotta be a fallow year at some point :-)

What seems to have happened now is that Eavis has denied the festival is cancelled in 2012 because of the Olymipics. What he means is that the Olympics isn't the reason, what everyone thinks he means is that the festival is still going ahead.

Force denies shortage of officers for 2012 Glastonbury
Michael Eavis said he was surprised to read the reports of the reasons for the cancellation

Police in Somerset have said they would have been "keen" to work at Glastonbury Festival if it was held in 2012.

Love this bit " A force spokesman said working at the event was "the highlight of the year" for many staff members. "

Michael said: "They all love the loo story and it's not really about that, the loos are just a small part of the equation. The main thing is the policing.

"If we can't get police then we can't run the show anyway."

He's said it's not just to do with the things the papers are reporting = the police, or the portaloos, or the fact the whole area is being used as an Olympic village by the squads staying at Millfield School and other neighbouring areas, it was convenient to move the date back for the fallow year - as they had requested in the original licence from 2011 to 2012 where all this other stuff would be happening including (BBC Coverage of course) and so in 2009 they applied to alter the licence.

Surely the long drops will be introduced as a demonstration event? With, literally, floating targets and different drops, 3 metres, five metres, synchronised drops etc. Should be gold for the UK I think.
