Hopefully not. Possibly one of the most disappointing live bands I've seen.

Seen them a couple of times, their own gig at Hyde Park which was very good. Then a couple of years later at Oxegen and they were very disappointing and seemed to be just going through the motions.
For that reason, I'm out.

"Yeah. The Peppers have festival dates booked for the summer of 2011 already, so I can't play in both bands next year
Although that sounds promising part of me just thinks he means Coachella etc. However, If they did play i would most definitely be there

Most over rated band of all time imo.
They've been shocking live both times I've seen them. I won't be trying to make it third time lucky if they play.

I'd love to see them if they were on form, looked very disappointing in 2007 or whenever it was at Reading etc but a few years before that they looked great.

Actually saw them at there own gig at secc and they were crap (don't give me the shit venue excuse, when you pay enough and seen enough good gigs and they played the night before it don't wash). Wasn't actually poor sound as such as how they handled the poor sound, as in stood around talking to each other a lot, very poor audience interaction ect. For a band thats been around the block I thought it was bad. Definetly plus one for the going through the motions.
Saw them again at gig on the green a few months later and they were a lot better, but that john guy just got on my nerves. Still, I'd give them pass marks for that gig but the first was so bad I'd never go see them again. (line up had qotsa and foos at the second and I'd already bought the ticket before the first)

Now if it was the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, I'd be right behind the idea

I've seen them 4 times - first 3 were amazing - MEN, Phonix Park and Millienium stadium. Then at Leeds festival it was like watching a completly different band...so disappointing. Had friends who hadn't seen them before and were looking forward to it and it was like a jam session and they seemed so disinterested. I would be wary about seeing them again.

Ocean Colour Scene asides, I can't think of a band I despise more than RHCP. Music for people who don't like music.

f**king awful, it's like watching a mid life crisis while someone pisses in your ears. They stopped being relevant over 10 years ago and I'd imagine they'd cost a pretty penny, so no thanks.

halfpint, on 16 October 2010 - 11:04 PM, said:Agreed. I saw them once on the By The Way (V2003), and then twice on the Stadium Arcadium tour (Earls Court and Oxegen 2006). Those three were great live performances, especially the By The Way show. Then came Reading.... absolutely horrendous. The band obviously had a massive falling out and hadn't rehearsed anywhere near enough for the shows. By far the least professional festival headliner I've ever seen, they just looked like they couldn't give a damn and wanted to get off stage ASAP to collect their pay cheque. If I had never seen them before I would have been convinced RHCP were terrible live, and well being a festival show chances are there were thousands of people who had never seen them before.I've seen them 4 times - first 3 were amazing - MEN, Phonix Park and Millienium stadium. RHCP hinged so much on Fru that it's going to be difficult for RHCP to recover. Klinghoffer is either going to breath new life into the band or result in them fading away. If it's the former I'd love them to play Glasto.

stadium could have been a great album, but none of them had the balls to say to flea or john 'ACTUALLY THAT SONG IS PISH' so they included everything they wrote, so as not to piss either of them off, while both of them didn't want to piss each other off. So they ended up with an awright album.
Too many egos, too many front men, not helped by john coming back and mike hogging but it may be better since he quit ( is he still quit, or can we get dave back?)

I keep hearing mixed reviews for them. Many people said they were rubbish when they saw them live.
I saw them at Earls Court on their Stadium Arcadium tour and thought they were one of the best live bands I'd ever seen - true musicianship. Everyone has their off days i guess. I's be all over it and hope they are on form. Hey, if they are there and not on form there is always something else.
A thought - could RHCP be the American band Eavis has been trying to get for a long time?

Didn't Eavis say that he thinks they're music for children or something?

Between all the guitar and bass fret w*nkery, Kiedis' attempts at 'singing' and looking like twats, do they even play any tunes anymore? Saw their attempt at a Neil Young cover, was pitiful.
