As much as I love Underworld, I don't think they are big enough these days to headline t'other stage.

I'll be absolutely made up if they are playing though, but I don't want them to clash with U2
Reluctantly, I'd have to agree.  In fact, I was a little surprised when they were rumoured to be headlining the Other Stage last week.  Definitely JP though.  Ideally Sunday, but I'd just be happy they're playing.

Are they much bigger than Hot Chip or LCD Soundsystem these days? I'm not sure they are. Could be subbing though this kind of thing works better in the dark so maybe a JP headline slot, or even one in the Dance Village (Fatboy did this last year)

The whole Born Slippy thing is mainly because that's the 'Underworld' track - the one tha gets put on all the dance compilation CD's so I think that's why people will judge it be their 'best' track, where in reality it's just the most well known.

can see them second headlining the other.

they're too big for the peel, maybe east dance at a push but i think that'd be a nightmare as well. other if they play.

Yeah, I can see that happening too.  If PS, CB and Libs headlined other, it would probably be friday or sunday I would've thought.  Don't know about them being too big for JP though, Doves and Groove Armada have both headlined it recently.

I think they could headline Other Stage easily even these days.  Maybe I'm just biased as watching them in 1999 is still one of my best Glasto memories (it's actually one of my best life memories - I enjoyed it that much) and could imagine they'll pull in a good crowd, dependent on who's on in the Dance Village, JP or Park at the same time.
Surely if the worry is that whoever is on won't be able to compete with U2 then that includes everyone else playing over the course of the weekend doesn't it? Someone has to be on at the same time!

For me, this is the best Underworld track of the last five years:

Imagine listening to this whilst watching a Glastonbury sunset.

Yeah I love that track to.  I used it in an unfinished chill-out mash-up I did called Mashed.  You can download it here if you want a listen (ignore the terrible Diana Ross bit at the end)
http://www.windymill...ller-Mashed.ogg
(its in ogg format, so not iTunes friendly I'm afraid.  VLC should play it)

Personally the live version of Pearl's Girl off Everything Everything is my favourite

I don't care when they play I just really hope they do!

Not seen them ever, and missed them twice at Glasto in the 90s except to hear Karl say "thank you and good night" :(

Although IMO they were at their best in later 90s I liked some of their new stuff last year

Underworld are OK, but Freur were much better - any chance they'll reprise Doot Doot?

two further things have cropped up today which indicate the presence of Underworld at Glasto this year....

Firstly, the latest Steve Hillage mailer says when referring to the System 7 set on the Spirit of '71 stage...

Quote

Our sound will be specially mixed by John Newsham of Funtion One (Underworld's sound engineer)

And then there was something on 6music where one of the DJs said they'd be at Glastonbury this year.

Saw them at Brixton late last year and they were on top form so fingers crossed!

Hope so, you have been saying it from the start!

Anything is possible, but I personally doubt it for no particular reason.

Hmmmmm Don't think so. Those slots are quite short. They would only play about 3 songs. more likely shangri la.
