Flying really. Once in Country all public transport to and from the festival is free with the festival ticket. Probably best to avoid Charleoi airport, her it is a nightmare to get to/from.

I flew into Antwerp last year, bus and two trains, short walk - sorted. Really easy and well organised public transport system.

As for the festival, cannot recommend it highly enough. It's brilliant. Great atmosphere, no knobheads, no booze fuelled aggression. The shops/stalls that the locals set up on the street outside supply cheap beer and food and are great places to hang out for breakfast or between bands.

Camp site is a bit of a farce, but generally find, though the way the fill it up means you are MUCH better off with a pop up tent to secure your pitch.

Edited to add: There's a couple of great threads on here from 2009 and 2010 with loads of great info, and also on the English speaking forum on pukkelpop.be. One poster on here has been loads of times, absolute mine of information!

We're thinking of going from Scotland in 2012 as there's no Glastonbury, so be interested to hear how you get on.

When to Pukkelpop this year and had a great time and could not recommend it enough.

We came from Dublin so flew from Dublin to Brussels on the wed morning , went into brussels for food and supplies and then got the train to Hasselt. From the train station in Hasselt its only like 5 min walk to the campsite. On way back again went into brussels to watch a match in an Irish Pub and went for a quick walk before heading to the airport on the Sunday.

The festival itself is great the belgiums are very friendly and there are so much random things you will find like the Blow Job Trailor,The Wedding Chapel and Make Believe Bumper Cars. Had great weather was scorching all weekend.

The Festival site is easily to get around since everything is quite close together but did feel the entrance/exit to the Main Stage is quite small to get thousands of people out of . Also there is not much atmosphere when the bands on so do wat we did and make r own :) although the atmosphere for Mumford and Sons was great.

All in all a great weekend , cheap , fun and a good mixture of music. Hopefully i head back over again next year

As The New Union said, it's well worth spending some time going through the past threads to get a feel for what the festival is all about:

2007 2009 2010 (2008's thread seems to have disappeared from the forum achieve???).

I personally can't say enough good things about the festival - it ticks just about all the boxes for me. I've yet to hear of anyone who has travelled over and had a bad time so if you're thinking about going next year don't think, just do  :D
