I realise i'm probably being really dim here, but i always thought Michael Eavis had a licence for 180,000 people so how come only 135,000 tickets were sold on sunday? Are the other 45,000 allocated to employees, acts and others or will there be another 45,000 on sale in the spring along with the returns?bit desperate here as,like many others, didn't manage to get tickets and this would fill me with some renewed  hope! :(

Sorry to disappoint you, but the 177,500 total is made up of the others that you listed: staff on all the stalls, crew, volunteers, etc.

There will be a chance to apply for return in the future, so keep an eye on the press.

Neil / eFestivals confirmed that on Sunday. Approximate figures, but the licence is for 177,000 on site, of which 137,000 are paying customers. All these sold on Sunday.

The remainder are acts, staff, vendors, kids etc.

Any balances which arent paid up in April - plus any failed or duplicates transactions - are resold in April / May.

The other tickets are for performers / staff / traders / media / some others. Basically everything that doesn't go on sale.

No it's actually because there's a resale in april with 10,000 more tickets plus the refunded tickets. Plus all the staff too.

 I thought they said they were selling all the tickets in October and that the resale will just be returns.

As I understand it:

There's a holdback for locals Sunday tickets, and locals full weekend tickets. The unsold ones then go back into the later resale. If it's those you're talking about, it's not quite the same as a holdback for general sale - i.e. the numbers that come into play are reduced. Probably massively. Possibly totally, at a stretch.

Don't forget the 150 drivers and 6000 maintenance staff who work on the monorail.

That's what I've heard too.

Also don't forget the annual allocation of free 'hospitality passes' that help to keep the London based media w*nkers corralled 'backstage' for the weekend and away from regular festival goers. Seriously, for the sake of a thousand or so tickets, it makes the festival so much more pleasant for the rest of us.  :D
