They supported U2 at Wembley last year i think, so it could be a possibility.

Yes they did. I was at Wembley to see them play just before U2.

Headlining the Pyramid or Other surely,  Probably Other.  Regardless, if they are there I'll be watching them.

Out of curiosity, anyone else think Leaders of the Free World is a better album than Seldom Seen Kid?  I get shot down for voicing this opinion often, just wondered if anyone at all agreed with me.

I'll try again after making a mess of my reply.

Yeah I agree with this. Leaders > Asleep > CO Thousands > SSK for me

'Great Expectations' is a song that actually does deserve the overused label 'beautiful' and as a Manc living away from home 'Station Approach' is just sublime

And I would absolutely love to see them play a big role this year at Glasto. I would rather see them in the sunset slot. I just don't like the idea of moany **tches complaining that they aren't big enough, or talking during the performance etc etc.

I agree. For the band themselves I hope they get a huge slot but I worry about them getting drowned out by some of the more impatient elements of the crowd. Would they get that worse in the sunset slot or headlining Other? Can't make my mind up. I think they warrant the Pyramid sunset slot but they'd be a great anti-bombast alternative to U2

A source tells me they're likely to be there.

Saw them in pretty small venues over the years and I also caught both their performances a couple of years or so ago including the Queens Head set. Also saw them at the MEN Arena in Manchester at the end of the last major tour. I think its fair to say I would rather see them in an intimate venue but they carried off the arena set equally as well.

Don't forget they have played the Pyramid before and all the crowd that were singing along that day appeared on the album ' Cast of Thousands'(me included - "We still believe in love so f**k you !!") They could without doubt justify a high ranking on the main stage bill.

With any justice just after I am Kloot !

Saw Elbow at Glasto 2008 and V 2009 - but before that at smaller venues in 2002 - 2004;
I always felt that they were my discovery then until they finally got the recognition they so richly deserve. Magical band. I don't care what slot, what stage - I would go see them anywhere.

Just wish they would still do "Powder Blue" - my all time favourite Elbow track; it is so totally perfect!!!

With all this Elbow talk I had to put them on. Did a shuffle and the first song was Picky Bugger. Forgot how good that was. Now it's Mirrorball. Such a great band. Can just see the sun setting at Glastonbury with a pint of cider in hand...........

Surprised they aren't a rumour...They are mates of Eavis family, Glasto favourites, and crucially have new album out and they've deliberately had a break from Glasto so as to not over play...

It's time...They will play. Either second from top Pyramid or Headline Other, and outside chance could be headline Pyramid Sunday, (easily fits Glasto's history of giving bands on the cusp of massiveness a chance to headline)...

Just been reading an article about the new album 'Build A Rocket Boys!'.  Is anyone else a little worried about Guy's mentioning of writing the album with arenas in mind?

I love Elbow's 'bigger' sounding music. But it's always the subtle, slow burners, that make them great. In my humble opinion.

My mate bumped into Guy in a pub in Manchester a few weeks ago. During a very long chat (which I'm not jealous of at all!) he asked if Elbow were going to play Glastonbury. Guy said 'hopefully' ...

I've had a couple of chats with Mr Garvey. He's one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet! Confident but humble man!

Masterly.  Whilst I hate the venue, I may have to go and see them at Sheffield Arena.

This topic made me go back to LotFW for a couple of listens. Really is one hell of an album. Amazing start to the album for sure - three awesome tunes right there.

Uggh... on first 2 listens I don't like it. The constant repetitive piano chords give me a slight headache and the lyrics seem a little patronising.

Anyway, hope it improves on further listens. Still desperate to see them booked!
