My mate has gone all soft and has suggested the pre-erected accomodation for next year.
Has anyone used any of those at Glasto before?
Good? Bad? Comments?
Thanks.

Last year I travelled with someone who wasn't keen on certain aspects of camping. We paid £150 plus VAT for a pre-erected tent on a field of similar tents just outside the festival boundary. The atmosphere couldn't have been as good, but it saved us taking a tent of the coach etc and the shower facilities etc were worth it.

So there are no hot showers with standard camping?
Would be cool if there was somewhere I'm could buy a shower

You don't notice the smell after the first couiple of days.
The people at home do though, when you get back - I had three showers in 3 hours - and people still told me i smelled!

I did the MyHab tents last year. If your there from Wednesday to Monday, and theres two of you, its the equivalent of £20 a night each - and includes a hot shower, preerected tent that you get to keep, nice toilets, and a carpark included thats on the other side of from the main ones, and therefore faces very little traffic. Plus, the tent was fantastic for taking to Reading later in the year - a large three man sturdy pop up tent, very reliable and practical.
Only issue was the distance from the Pyramid, but you can hear the Park clearly and sometimes the Other Stage from the camp. Plus its technically 'offsite', therefore you needed to keep your ticket on you the whole time (though I think that was just this year, due to the theft of a box of wristbands). And theres a bit of a hill once your offsite, pretty damn steep but, if your only going back at the end of the day, no real issue.

Done myHab this year, never again. Atmosphere ruined, didn't feel like Glasto at all when at tent. Possibly the worst hill known to man, when does a hill become classified as a Mountain? no help whatsoever up the hill, seen an elderly Gentleman fall down it, bad surface with larg'ish stones on such a steep hill is not a good idea. But.........
Marvellous clean toilets and showers and kept clean all weekend.
Did I mention the hill?

I had a shower in the greenfields this year. All the talk of massive queues are a myth. We queued for 5 minutes; we were in and out in 15. Very refreshing and will be doing it again next year mos def.

I had thought of doing MyHab in 2011,but you have made my mind up, did not really like the sleeping in a box idea at all,i still want to do the ready pitched thing though and will be going with Tangerine fields instead.

The hill! Jesus Christ the hill!!!
I had some mates staying in teepees further out from the myHab things. I used to walk up to meet them in the morning (and use the facilities, well the bogs anyway). Feck me that bloody hill nearly did me in, especially on the Monday morning when I had to carry all my stuff up there (the one good thing, no brilliant thing, was the parking. No queues at all although we arrived as the England game was on so may have missed the worse of it any way.
The Hill...

Crowd for the England game as seen from the area outside myHabs...

I did briefly consider doing it next year, about halfway through the 7 hour epic adventure that was bringing in two loads of stuff from the car on the Wednesday, but I think I'd regret it by the Thursday morning.
I would maybe consider it, or a campervan if I bring my dad in a few years time, as the peace & quiet might suit him a bit better than being in the thick of things... but your photos certainly make that hill look a bit steep Gnomicide!

I would love to do a Podpad one year for the novelty factor - Does anyone know how much they were this year?

I'm glad someone else here witnessed it! your photos take in the height but not the actual difficulties climbing it, pity you did't' have the one of the actual stoney hill? Climbed out of the festival up to the tepee's, then climbed another steeper hill, then a smaller hill, then turned a corner and just looked up with dismay, another yet steeper hill again. Now do that twice a day from Wednesday untill Monday and it made for one very very tiring Glasto!
In fact it was so bad, I don't think I'll be at Glasto 2011, my knee's, albeit not great to start with are now awaiting operations. If I do it I'll be in a wheelchair after the first day and I'm not exagerating in the slightest.
When we arrived we thought great! no carrying our stuff from car, but you had to carry everything for the whole day with you as you were so far from the action, and there was no way we wanted to do the hill more than necassary.

Thanks for all your comments. Although the idea of hot showers and clean toilets is appealing being outside the fence and having to go through security everyday isn't so good.
Isn't there any pre-erected camping INSIDE the fence then?

Not very “luxury” if you have to walk out of the f**king festival to get to your tent.
Normal camping is fine. Showers are easy if you go at the right time (I had two a day).
Toilets are fine if you just use the long drops (Always go in after a girl).
No massive walk to get in.
I stayed in a campervan for the first three years. Never again.

I think we're doing the tangerine fields next year. We're taking our two little ones for the first time next year so dont want the extra stress of getting caught in queues. Plus my daughter might only be 3 but shes already a bit of a diva so hot showers on the camp site will be a bonus.
Ive already spoken to someone on here who stayed in them this year and said the walk to and from the fields is pretty easy going as well.

The teepee village next to the park is inside the wall and is pre-erected. If I'm correct it's also where quite a lot of the celebs stay as well

have to disagree with you there, too many girls hover.....and miss
...and even though they are hovering, they insist on putting the seat down, so when they miss....
