So we have lernt: the artist is american.

if he says 'yonks and yonks' plus the more obvious 'Eavis says he's been wanting to book the act in question 'for years' it must be assumed that:

1. the artist may be fairly old, or at least famous for the last 10 years

thus:

Madonna

Beyonce

Prince

eminem

How? He said they were an American but it was hard to make out if he said 'Artist' or 'Artists' because his accent made it unclear and he even may have said both because he was being deliberately vague. He then says about three weeks later he has the three biggest bands. 2+2= American band.
