Or realise that most of the comments are tongue-in-cheek.

To be fair to Rex, spending five days entirely in the company of obsessive fans of something would be... less than ideal.  Especially if you're not much of a fan that thing.

You must know Rex very, very well to talk on his behalf. Perhaps it might have been best for Rex to defend his snobby comments

I don't understand what you mean.  Do I need to know him to be able to read his posts and convert the words to coherent thoughts?  I really can't see where I'm talking on his behalf.

I've read the thread again and I'd be amazed if someone was smart enough to turn on their computer and navigate to this page but not be smart enough to pick out the serious posts from the less-serious ones.  For the record, I like U2.  Am I offended by 'snobby' comments?  No, not even close.

I used to work with this guy who was a massive U2  fan, it was during the time when they had that last rubbish album and they must have bribed the BBC to promote it on every channel all the time.
Whenever a U2 track came on the radio he would turn it up and let everyone know they where the greatest band in the history of the planet.
Suffice to say this guy was a massive tool and really annoying, I have therefore decided to base my opinion of U2 fans on him so would rather they were kept to a minimum next year if possible.
I can imagine a lot of people with T shirts with pictures of bono when he used to dress as that devil thing......
(i would also like to add he looked a bit like bungle from rainbow and wore a beige suit if you can picture that)

Oh dear, what a snob you are. How awful of you to be surrounded by U2 fans, with the greatest of respect, you can't have much to bother you in life.

When im there, what a horrible though to be surrounded by woman, blacks, the young, the old, jews etc etc big yawn

1.) All I was saying was I wouldn't want to be at a festival surrounded by U2 fans, as has been mentioned before alot of U2 fans can get quite barmy about the band to the point of mentalness. A festival full of fans of any specific band would be shit. I just used U2 as an example as that's who we're talking about.

2.) Are you trying to tell me that U2 fans are somehow persecuted like social or religious groups? What a load of bollocks.

If I said i wouldn't want to be at afestival surrounded by Westlife fans would you be so precious? Get over yourself.

You've just proved my point.

You'll have to forgive me, im no mind reader.

Have a look at some of the comments on this thread, they aren't particularly pleasant & for what-nothing.

You don't need to be a mind reader, just have an understanding of irony and sarcasm.

You came across really poorly by saying you'd hate to be surrounded by U2 fans, you came across as a snob.

Hey, have a look at this, it doesn't look good. Perhaps if you were neutral, you might be more open minded about your petty & immature comment?

What a horrible thought, a festival populated purely with people like you, doesn't sound very nice to me.

Get over yourself &  just try to look forward to the festival should you get a ticket & leave nonsense like this at the gate. As for Westlife fans...who cares! Grow up & get a life

Very good indeed lol. There is nothing better than someone sticking their nose into something which has nothing to do with them.

You don't know me which is fair enough, however it hasn't stopped you from using insulting language concerning me...very odd indeed. I don't think there was any need to be insulting purely because i have a different opinion to yours & i don't think im really asking for too much for you to respect another members views without making insulting & pointless remarks.

I made my remark because i felt the comment was unjustified because i don't think a lot of U2 fans at Glastonbury would make it unpleasant. To me, this doesn't look good: "What a horrible thought, a festival populated purely with U2 fans"

For the record, i knew you were calling me a c*** but it doesn't take much to rattle your cage. I don't think you are a c***, i think you've been too quick to lose your temper of a nothing situation. We can all act aggresively while hiding behind a pc or laptop...can't we my angry friend ;)

All the best

Ladies, ladies .... both sides have chucked insults about because neither side want to accept the views of others posted here, and have reacted strongly against what's been said.

We all have different views on things, and acceptance of the views of others is a good thing, even if you don't agree with them.

Now, play nicely. :)

It's an internet discussion forum. I think you'll find that means I can come in and discuss what people have to say.

the man is speaking the truth.

also, on the subject of u2 fans, they dont actually require tickets, they just need to show up on the day and show their u2 fan card for free entry

If you quote your U2 fan number when purchasing tickets after 8pm on the Sunday, you get a free monorail pass with a pint of Brothers Toffee Apple thrown in.

Tickets?????? I heard from a friend of the milk truck driver that collects the milk from ME's farm that there are no tickets for next year! Its apparently going to be a free 'no ticket' festival with the fence down and everything so anyone can come and go as they please!

So chill everyone and don't bother getting tickets on 3rd!

:D

It has finally properly dawned on me that there will probably be a higher number of 'fans' applying for tix this year due to the likelihood of a certain rather large Oirish band potentially playing. Is it going to make a big difference? Are there really such die hard fans and that many that they will just come for the show/day? Seems a bit mad to me and a storm in a tea cup to be creating all this silliness.

It also means that we have to put with a whole extra years worth of blathering and whinging online about U2 playing. Wasn't one year enough?
