Just read a few post festival reports and dispite extra securty measures, banning booze etc etc, the tent burnng crazies mananaged to cause chaos again, coupled with the childish behaviour from GnR, so glad I choose to go to a festival full of 'Yirts' where I dont get my booze banned and bands play on time (well N.E.R.D excepted)

There were no riots or tent burnings that I saw at Reading last night, and I was wandering round the campsites till 6.30am

Reading was amazing. Especially sunday!! The only problem is that they don't have a crowd break barrier at the main stage, which i think is very dangerous. Especially as when down the front the security were pushing people at the front to get them away from the barrier, they were announcing on the speakers that everyone needs to take steps back but when people did that down the front the crowd would just surge and push people even harder..
i'm gona write a letter to reading lol

there was a barrier cause i was in front of it at some points and behind it at others. it was around where the disabled viewing platform was if i remember correctly.

ah right well i never saw one and if it was by the disabled platform, they need a way of controlling how many people go in, because it was actually riduculous how crushed it was and im suprised noone died in the crush.

Why on earth do people want to go to a festival where you risk getting your tent burned on Sunday night!!? Its beyond me...

Yawn.
Piss off with the snobbery, eh? Glastonbury isn't the only festival in existence and, by all accounts, Reading was a lot more friendly and calmer this year.

The crowd does make Glastonbury look very old tho!

Sunday was fine this year. I slept like a baby and woke up to a non-burnt tent next to my lovely non-deadfromcrushingorburning girlfriend. The extra measures worked a treat. Best festival Ive ever attended.

This is spot on. Everything I've heard suggests reading was a lot calmer this year, and either way, this 'my festival's better than yours' thing is childish and cringeworthy

Unless you're a promoter of one or something, I don't see the need for the competitivebaiting and snobbery. If I had the money, time off etc I'd go to them all....

exactly. Plus its not like they are the same weekend. theres two whole months between both festivals!! I think people get over protective because they are gutted they didn't get to go to whatever festival so try and brag how amazing glastonbury is.

whats this about banning booze?!
#19
Posted 31 August 2010 - 11:30 PM
This year, extra police and security personnel were put on patrol and there was a ban on lighting fires after 8pm.
There was also an alcohol ban which meant people couldn't bring any booze through the gates after 6pm.
no fires after 8pm? That's kinda lame, only time we have fires are early morning back at camp

the alcohol ban after 6pm on sunday was to stop crowds of people bring booze in and getting drunk and causing trouble. You were allowed to drink it if you already had it on site.
And the 8pm fires thing was on sunday night as well, because they didn't want the amount of tents burnt and the fumes.
