At Leeds Weekend 2010!

Best 3 Bands

1)Pendulum was the best for me, sheer brilliance and thankgod i had somthing to go and watch while Arcade Fire were on. Sounded amazing, crowd amazing, feeling amazing!
2)Mumford and Sons! Me and my Girlfriend treated this as our Sunday night headliner as not intrested in what followed and was bueatiful. I love to sing along and listen to good music and i never heard the crowd soo loud all weekend with the anthems of Little Lion Man and The Cave! The tent is amazing!
3)Biffy Clyro, played new and old and gave an amazing show and in some places were very very heavy. When the speaker blew or played up, i had a feeling that was the end of the gig when he stopped but he then did the Scottish thing and chucked it off the stage. Great band!

Worst

Dizzee Rascal - I was looking forward to it soo much, but his music just turned the crowd into idiots. Couldnt understand the rapping and to be frank, just was not as good i expected it to be!

Suprising

Weezer!!! Loved his energy, got everybody involved and were actually very good and their music is cool. Even when he was reading the lyrics, which is a little embarrasing he still put on a great show! Kids in Glass Houses ran them close aswell!

Dissapointing

Enter Shikari, the band i was looking forward to seeing the most and i maybe got to excited and they underperformed! They wasnt loud enough and with the sound not being very good they didnt excell! Would love to know why they said they had 2 songs left and finished after just 1...Didnt even do Sorry Your Not A Winner!!! Disapointing!

Strangest

Crystal Castles! Very enjoyable but what the hell is she doing to herslef! Freaky but sexy lady who you could'nt really hear or understand but again the music, beats and the drummer were amazing!

Who's Album Would You Now Buy, Which You Didnt Own Before Festival!

Kele - The Bloc Party front man had the audiance in his hand! Bouncing with catchy beats and songs! He was brilliant very entertaining and energetic and throwing in a couple of Bloc Party tracks made his set unmissable again!

Highlight of your Festival 2010

Travis Barker going upsidedown!!! You go see bands and they all let the drummer have his bit solo, ive seen rotating platforms before and tiliting but NEVER have i seen somebody drum upside down! 'Wow' came out my mouth when it happened a moment ill never expect! Blink were pretty good aswell to be fair!

Best Band

I'd have to go with Blink 182, just because seeing them live did take me back a few years and the setlist was near perfect.

Worst

Crystal Castles!!! seriously, the singer comes on stage downing half a bottle of god knows what and barely sings a note throughout her set! If i were in the band i would not be impressed with her as she really ruined that preformance.

Suprising

A day to remember were massive crowd pleasers i thought and really got me to want to listen to them more rather than the couple of songs i allready know. That and a girl i was camping with managing to beer bong a lot of vodka straight!!! discusting and fascinating at the same time!

Dissapointing

I'd agree with enter shikari as well, athought i thought they were good, they pissed about with too much dubstep in there set and that to me just screams sell out! missing out a couple of their first album hits also left me feeling empty. That plus Katy Perry not coming on with 3oh!3

Highlight of your Festival 2010

"When we Collide", the amps bust so I'll just chuck it away and start the song again! Brilliant, that and my genius idea of leaving pendulum to get some oxgygen and see the end of ash :)

Leeds
Best 3 Bands
1. Biffy Clyro - Leeds was Jammed for THEM, when he come out i thought THEY was going to be average.. but THEY was amazing! loved every minute.
2. Queens of a Stone Age - never listened/liked them before.. but they where amazing, i think if it was darker it would have been better but hey, i'm not complaining :)
3. Limp Bizkit/Zebrahead just because Zebrahead from where i was stood was packed.. and they sang good live.. and Limp Bizkit well everyone knew who he was and knew the words to most of his songs which made it that extra bit special.

Worst Bands
Kids In Glass houses - i was stood nearish the front at the side.. and i thought he was poor singing..
Billy Talent - Never liked him but never knew his voice was so annoying!

Surprising
Bad Religion - Their what about 40/50? and still going that well.. i was utterly suprised when they come on stage and sang that way..
Two Door cinema club - listened to them a bit, but never really got into them but went to see them with a mate and there probably in my top 5 bands of the weekend..

Disappointing
Got to be Lost prophets.. he left the keyboard guy (forgot name, forgive me) to sing and you could hardly hear him and when Ian come back in, at the start i thought his voice was poor.. by the end it got better
Also Paramore.. i was watching them set it up and do lights such as '321' on top and it looks really good.. yet they didn't use them and she sung really quiet, i've never really got into paramore.. but still sub headliners, another bad thing about Paramore was she come on 10 minutes late, then only stayed on for 40 minutes? don't the band who plays First have more time then that?

Strangest
Don't have one but, yeah if i had to pick it'd be Billy Talent, how his singing voice and speaking voice differ from each other.. its just weird..

Which albums would you buy now, Which you didn't own before the festival
Queens of a stone age
Two Door Cinema Club
3oh!3 (listen to them but never got their album)
Bad Religion (Same Reason as 3oh!3)

Highlight of the Festival 2010
I'm sure arcade fire drummer went upside down when someone was on top of him, as they was both drumming? or was that just me being absolutely bladdered.. but yeah that was good if it was True, But my highlight was probably Biffy Clyro, all his songs was just amazing and when he sang 'many of horror/when we collide.' last and the amp/speaker kept going weird and squeeky, then he unplugged it and threw it off stage, just put the icing on the cake, i had so much respect for him.
Also Guns and Roses when DJ Ashba was introduced by Axl and people behind me was shouting 'Your shit' and also 'we want slash' but at the end of sweet child of mine they soon shut up.

Edit: i obviously know Biffy is a band.. if you notice i've edited this 3 times due to the fact i was at Leeds, hardly slept and made shit loads of mistakes? stop being d*cks and correcting people.

I agree with everything you said! Never listened to Crystal Castles but my girlfriend said they were good! They were good but god knows what she had been on and then just didnt sing very well unless thats the sounds she has and as for looking on Youtube at them she has a lot of distorstion on here microphone! Loved the Biffy moment in when we collide aswell!

Best
1) Biffy Clyro
Just simply incredible
2) Guns N'Roses
whe nthey everntually came onstage they were really good
3)The gaslight anthem
Great summer band, and made the friday for me.

Worst
Paramore
i feel sorry for them, because the sound was horrendous, if i could hear them properly then im sure it would have been a good set

Surprising
Weezer
when he came into the actual crowd it was soo funny, and the energy levels were incredible, overall i was really surprised but chuffed with them :)

Disappointing
Not a band, bit the sound was horrendous at times :/

Highlight
Guns N'Roses - Sweet Child O Mine

Best 3 Bands:
Arcade Fire.
I'm sure Pendulum were great, and I'm sure you had a great time and all. But... my god did you miss the greatest thing I have ever seen. There was people there, who had never heard of them, and where there because "they wanted to see what they were like before Pendulum got on" and they stayed all the way through, saying how good they were, and how they didn't understand how they had completely missed them before.

Weezer.
In all honesty... did anyone expect that? So much energy was put into the set at Leeds, and the covers where hilarious. I went to have a sing-a-long, and I came out in awe of how good they were.

Frank Turner.
I love Frank Turner. So this is a bit biased I suppose... but the crowd was excellent, and it was weird to see his demographic... proper punks in there right down to the "preppy" girls. But amazing atmosphere and amazing live.

Worst Bands:
Paramore.
Okay the sound was whacked... so that ruined it. But... not as good as everyone said they would be.

Surprising:
Libertines.
Okay they weren't great... but they impressed me, and when they finished, it had got me all excited and well into the whole festival mood and everything. Good show, and some great Anthems in there :D

LostProphets.
They were bloody good I thought. Better than I expected them to be.

Disappointing:
Guns N Roses... sort of.
I enjoyed it, they are such a good band... but the atmosphere where I was, was just awful. I had people yelling at DJ Ashba to get off the stage, and stop impersonating Slash. And I did think the lights and pyrotechnics were too overused, and I came away feeling that Axl just thought he could distract us with the pretty lights...

Highlight(s) of the Festival:
1) Starting a Bollocks. I met a group of people on the Wednesday, and we started a whole festival Bollocks. It was amazing xD
2)When Arcade Fire finished, and the crowd was walking back to the campsite, the crowd singing the intro to Wake Up was just amazing. Brilliant. Utterly brilliant

Bloody good first festival in my opinion :D

Best 3 Bands
1) Libertines. Massive fan and was so good to see them! Great setlist, amazing festival gig.

2) Weezer. Unbelievable!! so much energy, river is incredible!

3) GnR.

Worst

Paramore: never understood how they could possibly be allowed to be higher up on the bill than Limp Bizkit and Weezer, they proved me right, sound wasnt great but even if it was they still wouldnt have put on a performance worthy of second on the mainstage.

Suprising

Weezer again!

Dissapointing

Lostprophets..the crowd just didnt seem to want to be there at times! good performance just a shame about the crowd.

Strangest

Lostprophets 'MEGA LOLZ' banner.

Who's Album Would You Now Buy, Which You Didnt Own Before Festival!

Make sure I have all the Weezer albums.

Best - Easy, ARcade Fire without a shadow of a doubt. To name the next two would be either Phoenix or LCD probably.

Worst - Coming from a huge cribs fan but they were shit. Mystery jets sounded poor considering i was looking forward to them. And Rolo Tomassi while waiting for Everything Everything was horrendous.

Surpising - I knew they'ed be good but Everything Everythign weren outstanding imo. Also I had never really listened to Phoenix but they were f**king awesome!

Disapointing - I wanted a bit more from the libertines they just didnt live up to the hype im afraid. When LCD did'nt do an encore!

Strangest - Hm i'm going to go Yesayer.

highlight - catching win butler's tamborine. cutting my hand fighting for win butlers tamborine! Power out, Everything Everything's slot on sunday where they played weights! then meeting delphic backstage after!

Best

Guns and Rose - Superb performance

Disappointing

Strangest

Gogol Bordello - But so bloody good I thought, would have never of thought of seeing but again a wait through band but great

Best 3 Bands

1)Blink-182! Best performance overall, purely for the amount of nostalgia and the awesome sing-alongs
2)Arcade Fire, the most awe-inspiring band of the weekend, their performance was incredible and you could tell they genuinely felt privileged to be playing and enjoyed every second of it. Was beautiful to watch, both my friends who previously hadn't heard arcade fire were completely blown away.
3)Weezer! Rivers was ridiculously entertaining to watch, and the set-list was full of hits to sing along to. The most fun I had all weekend.

Worst

The King Blues. I hadn't really listened to them beforehand, but the guys voice was terrible and the songs were boring. No-one really seemed to care much for them, but maybe I'm not giving them a chance.

Suprising

Young Guns: being a big fan I knew they would be brilliant, but I never imagined they'd get the crowd behind them as much as the did; the wall of death from barrier to barrier was a pretty insane way to start the weekend!

Disappointing

Guns N' Roses, for the obvious reason of turning up late, and their poorly composed set-list. They were amazing when they played their classics, but the crowd response was poor and the mood was killed by long, slow, chinese democracy dribble.

Strangest

The guy making love to a blow-up doll in the mud on thursday night, I swear he got a bigger crowd than some of the bands!

Highlight of your Festival 2010

Singing along to Say It Ain't So by Weezer with my friends, and the intro of Wake Up by Arcade Fire with the best crowd reaction I've ever heard.

Best

Arcade Fire- Band of the weekend by a country mile. The songs from The Suburbs fitted into the set perfectly, and from start to finish they were outstanding. The fact the band appeared to be enjoying it even more than the crowd only added to it. A better band I will not see for a long time.
Weezer- Been waiting to see them for years, and they didn't disappoint. Crowd was a bit flat for Hash Pipe, and I was worried they might tank, but they were excellent from then on.
Queens Of The Stone Age- Another band I've waited to see for years, who were also on great form. Good setlist, and ending on A Song For The Dead was perfect.

Worst

Dizzee Rascal- Seemed to attract a crowd of twats, and it was uncomfortably busy. And the crush to get out afterwards was incredible. Couldn't believe it when I saw people being lifted onto the vans at the side to get out.

Disappointing

Modest Mouse- One of my favourite bands, both live and on record, but they were pretty awful. The looked disintrested, had an awful mix, with Isaac's vocals far too quiet, and picked a poor set for a festival, which led to the crowd being bored.
Biffy Clyro- I've long grown used to them not playing much of their older stuff, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing when their set favours gash like God and Satan over 57 and Justboy. And on a less important note, his hair and trousers were both horrendous.

Suprising

Blink 182- Only went because I didn't really fancy any of the alternatives, but they surprised me with how good they were. Set flagged badly in the second half, but still enjoyed it.
The Libertines- Because I thought they had the potential to be dreadful. In the end, they were excellent.

Highlight

Power Out merging into Rebellion. Probably the greatest live moment I've seen.

I was at Leeds and for me:

Best:

Arcade Fire - seen them a couple of times before and love all their albums so knew what to expect, but still thought they were amazing. My mate who knew nothing by them and wanted to see Pendulum ended up listing them as one of his favourite bands of the weekend

Limp Bizkit - I actually thought they might have a poor crowd/bad reaction, but everyone seemed to be loving it, singing along and moshing. A friend of mine had been complaining that I'd wanted to see them, yet he was singing along more than me!

Mumford & Sons - brilliant setlist, brilliantly performed and brilliant crowd reaction....so many people cheering, clapping and singing along the band looked visibly moved!

Worst:

Honestly I didn't really see a band who I thought were that bad really, but if I were to pick one it would probably be Blink 182! Although I enjoyed hearing some classic old pop-punk songs, I didn't think their sound was that good, the jokes and "banter" seemed exactly how I remember it from when I saw them last at Leeds and I also got the feeling that the band still don't get on too well, but maybe I was imagining it.

Dissapointing -

Probably Paramore.....thought I was gonna really enjoy their set, but they seemed to miss out a few of their best/biggest songs and the sound was pretty poor too

Highlight:

Singing along to Mumford and songs and the reaction the band themselves gave to being there. The Cave was just an awesome moment!

Best 3 Bands

1) Arcade fire - Can't describe in words how good they were
2) Gallows - Absolutely ripped up the lock up tent.
3) Qotsa - Played my favourite song (Headache)

Worst

303h or whatever they're called, I'm embarrassed to say i even went to see them (gf made me)

Dissapointing

Blink - Tom's vocals pissed me off, but it was nice to hear some childhood tunes.

Strangest

NOFX - just crazy jokes inbetween songs and crazy banter, fun though.

Best 3 Bands

1. Blink-182. Was there ever a doubt? Anyone who was there won't need me to go on, anyone who wasn't well... Let's just say you missed the gig of a generation.
2. QOTSA. Perfect. The setlist I dreamt about. The sun setting during Go With The Flow will definitely be something I never forget.
3. Pendulum. They absolutely destroyed the tent. Never a dull moment. The crowd were fantastic as well, everyone seemed to think they'd attract a crowd full of twats but that certainly wasn't true. People helped each other up in the pits and generally bounced around and went mental without being dicks (which is more than I can say for a lot of other bands!).

Worst

Paramore. I resigned myself to having to watch them to get a good space for Blink. Every other band I saw that day were head and shoulders above them. Even You Me At f**king Six... They don't deserve to be anywhere near that high up and I can't fathom who on earth thought it would be a good idea to put them there when there were bands like Weezer, Limp Bizkit and Cypress Hill below them.

Suprising

Weezer. Not that I didn't expect them to be good, but they were absolutely f**king amazing! Everything about them was simply incredible, the setlist, the energy, the performance, Rivers climbing the stage. Teenage Dirtbag/Kids were awesome as well.

Dissapointing

Lostprophets. My first time seeing them and they weren't nearly as good as I'd hoped. Ian just didn't look into it at all and the setlist was completely off imo. They didn't even play Shinobi ffs!

A Day To Remember were awful as well, I'll definitely remember how shite they were any day...

Strangest

GnR. I was really looking forward to them, but even I was booing after an hour. The crowd were hostile during the whole of Chinese Democracy but as soon as Axl screamed "You know where you are?!" all was forgiven. Axl sounded really good and the hits were flowing. But every once in a while they'd be a random solo from someone, the bizzarest being Ziggy Stardust on the piano by the keyboard player. Maybe if they hadn't wasted 10 minutes playing the James Bond theme on Guitar they'd have been time for them to play Paradise City... The commotion after the set was just surreal, I don't need to explain it but I've never seen anything like that at a gig before and I probably never will again.

Also I didn't really understand NOFX, but enjoyed them anyway.

Who's Album Would You Now Buy, Which You Didnt Own Before Festival!

All the Weezer albums!

Highlight of your Festival 2010

Best 3 Bands READING

1)Blink 182 - absolutely nailed it, the perfect headline gig
2)Frank Turner - great sing along, obviously loves what he does
3)Weezer - so much energy, really made it a special set

Worst
Thrice - seen them before and they seemed quite energetic, just dull and boring this time

Suprising
Billy Talent - was expecting them to be good but they really were brilliant. The frontman taking the piss out of Kings of Leon was awesome as well :)

Dissapointing

Guns N Roses - they only had to show up on time, its not difficult. To blame the organisers is just pathetic, Axl needs to grow up, probably too late though.

Strangest

Gallows - the lead singer's a f*cking nutter!
