The crush at the front of the radio 1 stage after Delphic and just as Muford and Sons started was just insane. Me and my friend, both of who are used to being crushed to within an inch of our lives at gigs, had to be crowdsurfed out. There were people on the floor and no one helping them up and even people bleeding badly. I'm genuinely surprised nobody was seriously injured.

I can only assume their ridiculously low placemnt was due to them being booked before they became big. They could really have played second from top on the mainstage, and if they have another album as successful as Sigh No More then I could very easily see them headlining.

Not sure about the whole crush thing, but there was alot of being overcrowding going on like at Blink. At Magnetic Man we were being destroyed and it was a mess people ko'd on the ground etc but you've just got to go with it.  ;)

But mate, no way on this planet would they be big enough to headline within the next couple years. Maybe Sub after another decent album but pushing it abit with headliners.

Why? Arctic Monkeys did it with just one. The crowd for Mumford nearly stretched back to the lockup.

I think your first mistake was seeing Mumford and Sons instead of Queens of the Stone Age

It was a terrible choice for me to make, buit i heard that QOTSA last performance at the festival was pretty half arsed.

It was QOTSA all the way for me. It was obvious half the arena would show up for mumford and sons seen as they get a huge amount of air time.

Was going to go and see M&S but the sheer amount of people heading that way I knew we wouldnt get anywhere near the tent.

*As for seeing QOTSA, f**king dreadful band, and please before you lecture me I have had to bear witness to their shitty brand of pub rock, with Olivieri, without him and also under the many guises the ginger c**t has been under. You would think I would learn.

It was absolutely packed for Mumford and they played an amazing set - best crowd reaction of the weekend by far from what I saw.
As for QOTSA.....despite being a band that I like a lot more than Mumford, I've seen them a couple of times and they've not come close to playing a set as good as M&S's was!

We caught the last few songs of mumford after adam green while waiting for phoenix and it was awful. the crowd was dead strecthing far back it was as if they were watching them play at wimbledon with all the sitting down until the cave came on.

Were you at reading or Leeds? The crowd was going nuts were I was. I generally thought the crowds were pretty poor in general, with most people just standing doing nothing, but M&S's seemed awesome. On a side note Limp Bizkit also had a good reaction(which I totally hadn't expected)

The difference is that the arctic monkeys debut album sold far more than mumford and sons.

totally agree. I honestly thought I was going to die lol. The crowd leaving and the crowd coming in just crushed me in the middle. I was sweating. Dehydrating. And then the crowd from behind was pushing forward but we coudlnt go anywhere so our feet were sort of staying still with everyone leaning really far forward, I think I nearly went under about 5 times.

Impossible to enjoy a show like that. I didnt even care who was playing at one point I was just trying to get out.

Yeah i was raving to Mumford (at Reading) as if they were the prodigy and i was closer to the back.
I had to see Mumford now really as they will continue to be overplayed by radio 1 and soon enough the crowds/setlists/prices to see them/enthusiasm will get worse etc. Etc. Happens to every other band anyway..

CoughKOLcough (could also cough so many others!)

Oh God yeah

The vibe surrounding the NME stage at Leeds was f**king hostile, man. My missus was looking forward to them and we were behind the middle barrier (don't ask how we got there) and before they took the stage we had to get out of there because the crowd was so vicious - we saw girls being bottled, people being smashed in the face... it was f**king astonishing to see that sort of thing when you'd go in expecting a relaxed crowd of people who wanted to see a folk band. So many people were leaving and so many people were arriving - it was mad. The crowd there was more hostile than Limp Bizkit's which is saying something when a typical Limp Bizkit crowd consists of a bunch of rapists.

Yeah but the Arctic's 1st album was fresh, exciting and pretty darn good. Mumford and Sons album is the opposite to all of those.

I've heard QotSA called a lot of things, but pub rock is a new one to me...
very odd
