Zane Lowe just broadcast a recorded phone conversation he did with Rivers last week with regards to Reading/Leeds and Rivers said that Weezer would play a surprise Cover Song at Reading/Leeds only & nowhere else as a thank you to the UK fans, he also said it would be most likely that they would play their lady gaga/mgmt mash-up that seems to be going down well in the US at the moment

Wouldn't it be illogical to play a cover other places have already heard to thank us? Or am I reading this weirdly?

well the way he said it was they would only do/perform this particular cover song at Reading/Leeds

This sounds pretty cool. Wonder what it could be.
Thought pity he didn't say "As a special Thank you to our British fans we will not play anything from Make Believe, The Red album or Radditude. And we will play lots from Pinkerton."
But one can only wish

From their recent setlists I'd much rather they played 'Keep Fishing' than a cover of poker face or some shit.

Zane did ask Rivers when they would put Tired of Sex back into the set and Rivers did say that they have been rehearsing that one again

That would be nice.
They should do their setlist from Leeds 2002. I was there and the only song I knew at that point was Buddy Holly, but they simply blew me away, it was an epic performace:
1. Undone - The Sweater Song
2. Keep Fishin'
3. Island In The Sun
4. My Name Is Jonas
5. Don't Let Go
6. Why Bother?
7. Say It Ain't So
8. Dope Nose
9. Photograph
10. Surf Wax America
11. Hash Pipe
12. Buddy Holly

Great set - unfortunately expect lots from Raditude
and stuff nobody has heard yet.
Does make me
what they have become. Always loved Weezer
Hopefully some UK gigs on their Pinkerton/Blue album tour would make up for that

Well hopefully they will do a really good/special set-list for Reading/Leeds considering they are only coming over for these 2 shows (& haven't played in the UK for ages as well) before going back to the US to carry on with their shows over there.

Rivers Cuomo has confirmed preliminary plans for a special tour in which Weezer will not only play all of Pinkerton , the cult 1996 album being reissued on October 5th, but the band's self-titled debut LP, known as "The Blue Album," as well.
"We're just running it by promoters right now to see if there's sufficient interest in the markets to do something like that," Cuomo told MTV. "And if they're on board, it's gonna happen." This seems likely. "The fan response has been incredible so far," Cuomo pointed out. "And, if they want to, [fans] can contact their local promoter and tell them to make it happen." Weezer will also release their new album Hurley on September 14th.
HOLY SHIT....OF COURSE THERE WILL BE 'SUFFICIENT INTEREST' THEY ARE TWO OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS EVER RECORDED!!!!!!!!!!
If this comes to fruition, I hope to god they come over here and do it. If not I'll fly to America just to see this!

When talking to my friend about Reading a few weeks ago and he asked which bands were playing, I listed several including Weezer, and he said 'they do Teenage Dirtbag, right?'. I corrected him that he was thinking of Wheatus, but come Sunday afternoon at the festival, what song do Weezer cover? Teenage f**king Dirtbag. Quite possibly the biggest coincidence I've ever encountered myself.

Probably not coincidence, I bet they get that all the time and were probably playing it ironically. It kicked ass though!

Yes they played that Leeds too, a good ironic song.
I thought they were one of the bands of the whole weekend and loved it when lead singer Rivers ran from the side of the stage into the corner of the arena and was mobbed by hundred of people, what a front man.

Maybe my band of the weekend! They put on an amazing show!

Amazing, shame they didnt want to be filmed.

it wasnt filmed? f**k sake! best band of the weekend by a country mile.
The wheatus thing was definatley irony. we saw so many 16 yr old girls singing it before they came on, we had a little chuckle about it then they actually play it, so pretty much all the 16 yr old girls now think weezer do that song,
but still what a brilliant set!

That's a good point actually - there must be loads of people who get them confused. It was still awesome though.

Amazing set. One of my favourite festival moments. He was crazy on and off the stage at leeds. I wonder if he regretted jumping into the crowd when people tried to mosh round him. Security had there work cut out with him
