I wanted to post up about my experience as a single mum taking my 2 daughters aged 12 and 16 and my sister aged 16, sorry for the long post.

We set off from home along the A5 at 5.30am we were in South car park by 7.30am and had set up camp in Silver fully by 10.30am. I was relieved that everything had gone so smoothly. We got ready and headed down to the Arena just after 1pm, exchanged our wrist bands really quickly, went to the Welfare for my youngest daughters wristband in case she got lost, got our lockerbox with no problems. Spent a few hours walking round the site, then headed back. Silver camp was getting very busy and by the end of the day it had only a few pitches left.

I will agree with what was said about people's attitudes, everyone looked miserable, and seemed to look down at me for bringing my children along. We did see other families with kids in our camp and also on the site, and that was nice to see. But it didn't bother me that people had a chip on their shoulder. V is a festival for all ages. We had a nice set of older guys camp in front of us who we spoke with all weekend.

Saturday at the arena went well, I will say that the atmosphere seemed very flat in the afternoon on both days, but we were having a great time early evening until it finished. Sunday was amazingly busy, and we didn't get into it as much, and my eldest daughter also lost our camera outside the Donut van just before you walked to the 4Music stage on Sunday evening, Black Sony cybershot DSC H55, be good if anyone has it, lost property got back to me, but nothing has been handed in yet. We spent a lot of time in Mansion dancing on the Coloured light dance stage, and using the free laptops and just generally chilling out in comfort, it had a cash bar which was never busy either. It didn't get that busy when we were in there, and we all had a great time. There was a huge queue for the cash machines on the Sunday, but a nice woman told us about the cash machine van just outside the gates, and it had no queue so got our money out quickly. Went back and told the back people in the huge cash queue who were also thankful.

I always made sure the girls were safe in the crowd, and we stood back enough so we could have a good dance, and jump about etc. We only got a few drops from Piss bombs which was a relief. We also had lots of fun with random people handing out high fives.

Queues for the toilets were not an issue for us, thought it was funny when men and women were pissing up fences close to the portaloos even with no queue. And also the disabled area up top by 4Music, people had no respect pissing up that either.

I really wanted to leave the camp site early on Monday, so we had packed up super fast, walked in the mud back to the car and out of Weston by 7.30am and back home enjoying a cuppa by 8.30am.

I will say I was in shock on Tuesday thinking did we actually just do all that and survive? But all in all we had the most amazing time, and I was so happy to have shared the experience with the girls. I washed off the mud from the car this morning. Gutted the camera was lost, but had a few pics from my phone, and lots of memories in our heads.

Band highlights for us were, Plan B, Calvin Harris, Sugar Babes, Diana Vickers, Prodigy, and Florence and the Machine.

And those Giant Yorkshire puddings were delicious. And Travel Johns saved many late night trips to the toilets.
