I've gotta be honest, I think the Weston Park site is shockingly bad.
The queues to get from the M54 to the site were really bad. Took us about 5 hours to do an hour and half journey. I expect some queues, but I felt this wasn't well organised or marshalled.
We were made to park in West Car Park 3, and it took us about 2 hours to walk to the campsite (Green) with all our stuff. It was an absolute nightmare. It's just too far. Takes the shine off your weekend.
And the queues to get out of the car park were equally as ridiculous. 4 1/2 hours it took us. And again, I think this could've been organised to be much more efficient.
I don't wanna sound like a whinging twat, but it did make the whole weekend a little less enjoyable. And at Leeds fest, non of the above happened. It was short walks, minimal queues and really efficient.
Won't be going back to Weston Park again, I'm afraid.

Got to admit it, I won't be rushing out to buy next years ticket anytime soon.
We cued in the hard shoulder of the M6 and then on the subsequent roundabout and A5 for hours with very little traffic control in place! All i can say is I feel sorry for those who live local who wouldn't have been able to leave their house that day! Surely, it wouldn't have taken much effort to out a couple of event marshells on each junction to keep everything moving.
And then to cue to get in, then to cue to get a wrist band, then to cue for beer tokens, and then to cue for beer, and then to cue for the loo's...................
I'm sorry, other festivals are far better organised and don't have these issues despite being just as a big.
It is a shame as it was a good line up with a good vibe especially in the sun in Sunday but unfortunately Weston park can't handle the vast amount of people.

I stopped going 3 years ago for all the reasons you have stated, and it hasnt improved at all since then. I even live in Telford so can avoid the motorway queues getting in by driving directly along the A5.
The West car park is just too far from the site, if you are camped in Green or Grey it is a crazy walk through the mud.
The organizers dont give a shit about the punters because they sell out (literally) every year. Nothing will ever change until it stops selling out.

I've got to admit talking to some of the people who took the regular route, did tell me how long it took to get into the festival site. I was selling trolleys at the end of the west car park in order to raise money for charity and it really was a nightmare for people lugging all their stuff that way. There are ways of getting around the traffic, you just need to head into Wolverhampton and then head north from there along the A41, we did that at about 2pm on the Friday and was in within 20 minutes. The issues with the traffic were that the local residents complained about congestion and so had to close some of the roads that were used last year.

We travelled from the north east and ended up in the south car park.
It took us 4.75 just to get out of it today.
There was no set way out and as a result we had about 15 seperate queues, trying to wittle down to single file, through a 8m gap. It ended up as 5 queues being being managed into one. The system appeared to be, whichever queue blasts its car horn the loudest and longest goes next.Once through this obsticle it took us a further 30 minutes to get to the main road itself.
I'd used V's recommended route to the festival and was totally lost when i arrived at this main road,,not having Sat Nav. I asked the man directing the traffic how to get to the A5. He told me to follow the traffic and it will be signposted. I was looking but i never saw one sign to the A5. The main roundabout said M54 north and south or Wolverhampton A41. I had to go along the A41 to find a place to stop and get the map out.
The most frustrating thing, though, was that the entrance we came in on Friday was locked. Apparently,so the traffic controller said, because V only had a contract to use the farmers field on the Friday and no other days.
He also said there was 27000 vehicles, in the car parks. I paid, like everyone else,Ł10. Thats Ł270,000,over a quater of a million, on car parking fees alone. Surely, some of this could be used to pay the farmer accordingly. Let the local community make some money out of it. Im sure V make enough profit elsewhere.
Im aware that using this egress will impact on other roads but surely this can be managed.
I expect a lengthy delay but 4.75 hours leaves a bitter taste and not one i'm keen to endure again.

I agree with the traffic marshalling, it was very poor, very slow to get cars into the carparks. Off the A5 cars were asked by marshalls to do u-turns, which took us onto grass verge to get round cones, dumb or what!
I arrived early and left early to beat queues by recommedation for the forum last year. Arrived on site at 9, took an hour from M54 to get into carpark and left on Monday by 8. Still had to queue, don't understand why but not as traumatic as your experience.
Don't be put off, the earlier you can arrive / leave the better.

I DID SAY YOU NEED TO SET OFF IN THE EARLY HOURS TO AVOID THE Q's !

But I've never seen the point of going to a festival and leaving sober on a Sunday night...
And the earlier you arrive on the first day, the more packed in you get in the car park, so it'd take you even longer to get out...
All I think is that it needs better organisation... Like Leeds festival.

But spending 5 hours sat by the tent drinking and wandering is better than 5 hours in a traffic jam !

We had no real trouble at all! We got to V Festival about 7:30 in the morning on the Friday, and didnt queue at all! We came from Telford down the A5! Parked in North Carpark! Although we queued fro 3 hours to get past security with our bags, there were no queues for the carpark! As for leaving Weston, you say you need to leave early, well we got in our car at 10:15, and was free from traffic by 12:00, so queueing to get home was 1hr 45! We were all very suprised!

3Hrs to get through the security bag check, that is mad. How did you get into the North car park from Telford, I thought they forced you down the A41 into the West Car Park

Got the train from Liverpool Lime Street at 6.05am got to Stafford station at 7am, got the shuttle bus at quarter past 8 and had the tent sent up and the stongbow open by half 9. Never driving down again. As long as you've got a trolley the train is so much easier.

Answer to your problems = Big Green Coach. They have there own lanes, we were in and out no probs peak time, and the bus drop off is well closer to the campsite. We was on green aswell, best weekend ive ever had!!!

Yeh the security thing was a bit annoying, but it was fine! The people I was with all just had a laugh and I cant say it put a downer on any of us! To be honest as it was our first V fest we thought it was the norm!
As for parking there wa no one telling us to go anywhere! We came straight down the A5 from Telford, got the roundabout and went straight over! This was about 7am ish!

well i def wont be returning to weston park festival was good but the org was terrrible we were in south car park didnt get out yesterday till 4pm then had to go long way round to get on the m6 then was stuck in traffic for 5 hrs didnt get back to scotland till 120 am tues morn.
i also dont understand why they cant have staff giving you your wristband as you enter from car parks would make a lot more sense than having to lug your stuff about.

It's a FESTIVAL, there are thousands and thousads of people and you don't expect a que?
And you can't have every camp site next to a car park! It's just too big.
I have been to Leeds and it's exactly the same!
Get over it an stop moanin
