How much do they typically charge for you to draw out cash and what are the queues like?

Posted 15 August 2010 - 07:14 PM
I think its 2.50 a go.
And the queues can get massive, but I just go first thing in the morning/last thing at night, or when I'm walking past and there is nobody there.

I've always gone late on a night. 9pm onwards in the arena or village is always dead. If you go during the day you're in for a long queue.

Thanks for the tips. £2.50 is a bit steep but I guess it's better than carrying around £200 in your pocket at any given time. To be honest I doubt we'll even need that much. Me and the missus are going to spend money on food at tea time and that's about it - we'll put some money aside for merchandise but I doubt we'll get much.

the fest i just went to charged £3 a pop, i thought that was well bad.

It's quite disconcerting, actually. You'd think the idea of a cash point is to help you manage your money so that you don't carry a lot around with you but at £3 a pop it's basically just pushing you to get out as much as possible so that your trip to the cashpoint is worth it.
Looks like I'll be bringing a dog chain with me after all.

god thats steep!
i didnt use them last year
heres a bit of a less convenient way - get the shuttle bus to tesco and use the machine there. you can also get a decent face wash and brush ur teeth and pick up any forgotten items at the same time.

Wallet on chain attached to your belt loop. wallet in the bottom of your sleeping bag whilst you're asleep. simple.

I was just about to say that.
It's £4 to use it I don't know if thats return either.
I went twice last year, only because I was nearly out of money and then a mate lost his wallet in the crowd (somehow) so I lent him until he could get a new card etc.
I dunno what my advice would be. Carrying a load of money means you don't have to pay to take your money out but if you lose it your screwed or going often to the cashpoint and maybe losing your wallet not having any money at all and spending a lot to get the money out.

Long dog chain and deep pockets would be the best option it seems so far. I'm happy enough with that. I'm just a bit weary of having to carry around X amount of money.
Can you get lockers on the day or do you have to pre-book in advance?

If you do take all your money in one go, perhaps seperate it into two walletrs and keep them seperate. If anything bad does happen your not completely f**ked.

yeah its like £4 return, but thats why i listed lots of other benefits haha

To be honest there's not really that much I'm taking with me that would bother me if it was stolen. It's leaving the tent during the day and night that irks me a bit but most things we're taking with us are disposable. I'd like a decent even bunch of photos to bring home so I'm taking my digital camera. I need money so I'll be taking my wallet with me. Phone is a £3 piece of disposable plastic I got from Carphone Warehouse...
Those are the 3 main things and they'll be on me pretty much at all times so I doubt a locker would come in much use.

From the website
'There will be at 30 cash point machines onsite in total.
There will be 16 in the village and 14 in the Arena. They accept most cards but there is a surcharge of £2.50 per transaction. The cash points in the Village are open 24 hours and the arena cashpoints are open whenever the arena is open.
The nearest cash point apart from those onsite is at Tesco at Seacroft. Shuttle buses run there from the onsite bus station at Yellow Gate. The Information Tent has details of all the telephone numbers for reporting lost cards.'
