People like the OP are the reason why I won't have anything to do with the church.

W.W.J.D, on 07 August 2010 - 08:41 PM, said:An Austrian bishop has described a German music festival stampede where 21 people died as a sinful event and suggested the deaths may have been God's punishment for losing faith.
Salzburg's Roman Catholic bishop, Andreas Laun, described the Love Parade and participation in it as "a rebellion against creation and against God's order, (which) are sins and an invitation to sin".
As well as the deaths, more than 500 people were injured when a lethal bottleneck formed as revellers tried to get in to the festival in the German city of Duisburg on July 24.
It's easy to get angry about people like you - but I feel just sympathy. You clearly have had a severe breakdown and now shows signs of mental illness - probably due to the sudden death of your husband. You need help, although sadly part of your illness is your blindness to you're own state.

This is obvious trolling, however:
Jesus had no problem with drinking, celebration, music or healing herbs. What would jesus do? He'd go to glastonbury, you'd find him in the healing fields

If you believe the fairy tales, he was the life and soul of the party at the wedding feast at Cana. That trick he did with water and wine. Brilliant. One of my favourite pictures is of the Wedding Feast at Cana, it's in the Louvre in the same room as the Giaconda. Looks like a good party to me, anyhow.

I have some christian friends. I think the world of them. We disagree on religion but we respect each others differences. Where we part ways though is on music. Jesus f**king Christ do they listen to some shite.

The only "big" Christian band I can think of is Stryper. And they were shit. Although their 1984 album "To Hell with the Devil" made me smile.
From Wiki :
Quote
"During concerts, Stryper threw Bibles to the concert crowd—specifically editions of the New Testament with the band's logo stickers affixed to them. As a protest against "666" symbols popular among many heavy metal fans of the era, Robert Sweet promoted an alternative numerological symbol; Stryper's trademark use of the "777" symbol subsequently became quite popular among Christian metalheads. Although the number "777" is not actually referenced by the Bible (as opposed to 666, which is famously mentioned in The Book of Revelation as The Number of the Beast) the number "7" is traditionally (in Christian symbolism) associated with divine perfection. Some of the band's stage sets included the crossed out symbols of "devil" and "666"
Get them booked!

Sometimes it's hard to separate wind ups from serious posts.
To be serious for a moment, I think it's people's positive and constructive actions that count. I don't care if people are motivated by a deep seated religious conviction (it's God's will that I help people) or possibly from an aetheist conviction (If we don't help our fellow human beings no one else is going to).
If you want to take a lighter look check out the BBC Radio Four Comedy Series "Old Harry's Game" written by and starring Andy Hamilton.
And, please, no suggestions of Cliff Richard for Glasto.

I don't know Bobby Z. And when I was thinking of Christian music, I was thinking of specifically of bands that make god-bothering music exclusively.
And you missed Slow Train Coming off that list too
edit : I've just worked out who you mean by Bobby Z.
Epic fail on my part.

Boy, at least he f**kin' jams! Ha ha ha ha! Okay? Did you hear that correctly? If it's a choice between eternal hell and good tunes and eternal heaven and new kids on the f**kin' block... I'm gonna be surfing on the lake of fire, rockin' out... high five at Satan every time I pass the motherf**kin' shore!"
