Leeds isnt that bad for nobs, the sunday night is quite bad but if they stay away from the trouble then they will be fine. But there is going to be more security this year anyway so i think it will be calmer.

I have to disagree with the comment about orange being bad for tend robbing, I was camp near the fun fair last year and i had no problems other than someone nicked one of my barnsley flags

It does come down to luck where ever you camp, but from friends stories and from last year, you are more at risk in orange.

I reckon security will be stepped up pretty considerably this year. they were already planning to increase security measures, and then that thing happened at Latitude where those 2 girls were allegedly raped...FR got a fair bit of negative press from that so they'll be sure to take whatever measures necessary to ensure that the festival is visibly as safe as possible. I reckon this will probably be the safest festival we've ever seen to date.

Friends of mine have been to tiny festivals and had their tents raided , I have been to 10 Leeds and been fine .
Leeds fest is like a major city , some smaa parts will expect and get trouble , the rest of it is fine and quiet.

Is there really much FR could have done to prevent it? It is just absolute knob heads going to the festivals to take adavantage of people. More security won't stop it. If people are going with the specific reason to commit crime in any form, they will just commit it, there is no way of cutting it out completly. Increasing security may stop immature people acting like dicks, but unless there is one security officer per person it won't make much difference.
There is way to reduce it, such as make eveyone register for tickets with pictures printed on tickets of the individual. Also background checks could also be done(bit extreme like) But basically if you have commited crime before and have been convicted of it (Theft, assault, violent crime) Then you are not permitted to enter the event.
Never gonna happen though

Not everyone with a record is a thug! It would be a stupid measure anyway as you can't stop people acting however they choose too. The most gentle polite person could be an absolute twat once they've had a few drinks and think there invincible because there with there testosterone filled friends!
Wherever you go whether it be a major event or small local event, there's always going to be trouble because what some people class as 'fun' is what other perceive as yobbish and violent. You can't ever control it but you can only help try and prevent by keeping your stuff safe and trying to avoid large groups of teens!

i don't think he's talking about people going a bit wild after a few drinks. He's talking about local scumbags who buy tickets solely to come to the festival to rob tents.
But yeah, there's absoultely no way of stopping them.

I didn't say they were, and it was an ideal world situation.
But if they were to stop people coming to the festival who had commited bad crimes, along with the crimes that are most common (theft) it would go a long way to help preventing these sorts of crimes. Not solve them because there will always be others willing to commit these crimes.
TBH festivals are a haven for criminals, such easy targets for these people. But I agree education and common sense is the key, stay out of trouble, don't carry anything you arn't prepared to loose, look after your belongings (zip pockets). Keep everything with you thats of any value, etc.
The festival itself does not do enough to promote this sort of culture. There isn't an advice page nor anything along the lines of what you get from asking questions these forums.

They did a few years back. The Police had good intelligence about a gang and they were onto them as
soon as they left home.
My friends went to Glastonbudget the other year ( on of the first fests of the year ) and Security had
been told by Police that there was going to be a gang targetting all the festivals on the first night
for cash and cards !
So not always local it can be national organisede crime !

Thanks again guys you've really set my mind at rest :-) couldn't get a locker but have seen elsewhere on site that there's a supermarket and a bacon buttie van so she'll live! I'm quite envious now. Cheers!
