I didn't see Orbital but think that they would've been better with a smaller crowd than when I saw them from a long way out in 2004 (The Other Stage sound is a bit hit & miss further out). Dance music does need to be loud and feel like it envelops you to work properly.

Also - I noticed at Hot Chip that although they didn't pull a big crowd, it felt more like an old time Glastonbury atmosphere, everyone really danced with each other randomly, and there was a real party vibe. It was great. A real contrast to Florence who were on just before them and drew a massive crowd, but it seemed to be comprised almost entirely of people who just stood there ticking them off their list of people they needed to see.

Orbital's crown was miniscule wasn't it. I stopped by for a bit and thought they were awesome but the crowd didn't go past the sound desk.

Those that were there definitely made up for it but there were more people at Kate Nash!

I expected Stevie to steal quite a few but I was honestly appalled by the small size of the initial audience. It's all relative though - they normally pack Glasto fields tight so even though there were probably easily 20,000 people there it looked tiny by their usual standards. Added to which I moved back during the set and by the time 'The Gun is Good' was laying waste to the place the crowd had tripled if not quadrupled in size - lots of peeps leaving other stuff and joining in. Way past the mixing desk by the end.

Hot Chip were absolutely fabulous weren't they? One of my weekend highlights!
