I'm a bit annoyed the BBC don't seem to have covered George Clinton at all- it was definitely a highlight of the festival for me. Thousands of people dancing and smiling, pints of Brothers, medleys of songs that went on for 40 minutes, great solos, major basslines, dancers, that guy with the white fluffy hat... I'm sure they could have done another hour if the curfew hadn't cut in, it was going down so well with the crowd. I know it seems most people went with Muse, and I'm sure they were indeed epic and great, but no way was it as much fun as P-Funk. Great headliners. Anyone got any pictures or videos, or just things to say?

On a side note, I really like the crowd at the Jazz World/West Holts; the field was full of people, but there was enough space to move through it and to dance. Great atmosphere.

I too really enjoyed it, the Mrs however would rather have been at Muse.

I saw the beginning and really enjoyed it...but can see how the long guitar solos and twiddling could get a bit old soon.

I wasn't getting into it at all. I turned up for a dance and was not wanting a 20 minute guitar intro, no matter how good it was it wasn't what I had come to see. I killed our buzz a bit. Then when they did kick in I thought the sound was poor, and then Flashlight was played at half the pace. By the sounds of things they got better but but by this time I had already left for the late night areas.

They were awesome, but I left convinced that George hadn't turned up! I just didn't recognise him without the masses of rainbow dreads - plus thats what I thought the "f**k George" sign was about! Also I thought he would have been at Gary Shider's funeral.

Still rocked the place!

Was a tough decision between Clinton and Muse, Muse it was in the end.  Would have loved to have heard Maggot Brain live.

Thank God we weren't the only ones haha!

Stayed around for quite a while and enjoyed them to the fullest though.

Man they sure do got the funk.  They were absolutely fantastic and gave us all a treat.

Sad to hear that one of thier own (starchild) died a week or so before the gig and what the hell happened to bootsy collins on bass.
one of the finest bass players alive and the man behind that driving bass line on groove is in the heart.

It's my favourite field by far, great vibes, easy access to booze & toilets, good food and easy access up to Arcadia etc.

One of my highlights also one of my lowlights when George Clinton came to the signing tent and told everyone he would only sign official merchandise and it was £20 for a t shirt.  Not to be disheartened I held out my sleeve of my rather funkadelic purple and pink afghan coat complete with orange fur and told him to sign my piece of official merchandise, which he did.  

They were brilliant, never been to signing tent in my life but as there were only a couple of folk the queue and it was George Clinton I thought heck it why not.

When I heard that Muse and their new style I like to call '70's Egyptian camp rock' I was quite excited, as it means seeing a smaller stage headliner without the guilt of missing something epic on the pyramid.

And they were awesome, up there with Thom Yorke and Stevie as the best act of the weekend and seeing them start with maggot brain was a life long ambition fulfilled.

I heard later on that muse alternated the shit new stuff with the not shit old stuff, so maybe I could have just sat down and had a snooze every other song. But still don't regret parliament funkadelic, at the end of the day, I think with bands like muse or the killers on the pyramid, if I wanted to see them surely I would have bought tickets to at least one of their shows....

He signed my copy of One Nation Under A Groove that I brought along but he looked confused and not too pleased!

I really was pissed about this as I've said on the Songlines tent.  I paid £20 for 2 copies of the CD from the Songlines stand to be signed.  He grumbled something at me and refused to sign either of them.  I wasn't going to pay yet another £20 for a t-shirt so ended up walking off empty handed.  

This was such a disappointment to me.  After being a fan for years I walked away feeling cheated and ripped off.

He actually refused? Jesus, if there is one bad point I know about George it's that he's a stingy sod. The reason so many of the current band aren't original 70s members is because they fell out with him over money. I took it along expecting someone to move me along or for him to refuse. Must have got lucky. Sorry to hear he did that to you.

I just think that someone at the Songlines Tent should have told him he should sign it or give me my money back!

Oh well.  Guess moaning ain't gonna help no more.
