This year I have to admit I struggled a bit with the lack of sleep. We went with a large group, which meant that there was always someone up doing an all nighter out side our tent - which would usually have been me to be honest, but this year I definitely felt a bit older and less able to get on with having no sleep, which was a shame and I actually left thinking that that might be my last festival.  But I'm now thinking I just need to make alternative arrangements!  :)

What are people's experiences with Campers? Is it a massive hassle getting to the car park, and do you feel a bit alienated from the rest of the festival? And more generally do you find maintenance of them a bit of a chore?

EDIT: Sorry, just seen the other thread

I've just posted about this in another thread HERE

We were in our campervan for the first time this year and i'd definitely do it again. Much quieter fields with more space make for a better night's sleep. Although it was a fair old walk into the festival site each day (we were in East). You do feel a little removed from the rest of the festival - I did miss the camping fields atmosphere a bit. But I loved having a comfy bed and being able to make myself a coffee each morning  :) .

We got into the campervan fields easily on tuesday evening, but did get stuck in a queue for 2 hours getting out again on monday morning. Once there, we xperienced a bit of queuing getting onto the actual festival site through gate c, but only really bad on the wednesday.

Maintenance wise, it depends on what van you get. I'd imagine the modern mobile homes are fairly easy. We have an 80's VW T25, which is an older vehicle so needs a bit of TLC, but it's in good condition and very dependable. We were a bit worried about how it'd last for a week at Glasto (only done weekend trips so far before now), but had no problems other than our fridge (which was running on gas) going out and not being able to re-light it. Battery power lasted fine, and we were lucky enough to get a relatively flat pitch  :) .
