I know this has f**k all to do with Reading/Leeds but having been away from this website for a while I've noticed the forum has changed - and I really don't like it.

Anyway, if there are people on here who are struggling to cope with all of the annoying bloody adverts then get Firefox and download the AdBlock Plus add-on. I won't post any links because I don't want this thread to be misconstrued as spam but it'll help you out a lot if you're still struggling to get to grips with this new layout.

What do you all think about it?

Its a decent layout, and im used to it because most forums i use have been updating to this layout... however the advert after the first topic/layout really bugs me but i'm not fussed about removing it because its easy to avoid

off topic: what did you think of the festival republic stage? ;)

Off topic, it's not actually that bad having listened to a lot of the bands. I'm not really one for up and coming bands and I pay no attention to the NME or which best new band rips off Massive Attack but I think it might be wise to visit the tent.

pile of wank (i can't stand change, and i don't like how wide it is now, not having to move my eyes across the screen as i read a post was a good thing!)

and i have abp installed, which although is great, i have a big white gap after every first post now, very annoying

Its less dramatic than the last change a couple of years back. The ads are a tad annoying, all in all though, its more than fine

I like it apart from the white gap after the first post where the ad is blocked.

Aye the white gap is incredibly irritating. At first (with ABP installed) it made me keep refreshing because I thought the forum had disappeared but then I remembered that I had a scrollbar down the side and found that to be much more useful than I imagined.

Can't say im that arsed either way.
Saying that, the official reading forums has the worst layout ever. I hardly ever looked at it anyway, but the last time I did since the change it was very difficult to see what was going on.

The groups don't work since the forum update apparently - see this thread

I've got used to it now - if it changed back today I'd prefer the old layout, but in a few months time I'll probably see a screenshot and be surprised at how dated it looked.

The ad at the top was originally in the sidebar, but some people on Discussions complained so Neil moved it (gotta pay the bills!) - tbh I prefer it in the thread; the right sidebar was massive for me with the advert in.

Just to confirm then, you like the site, you like the info the site provides, you like the forums but you are happy to remove a revenue stream that helps to keep the site up and running by using adblock.

I also occasionally watch football matches and then go to the loo when the adverts come on.

Without the ads there can be no forum.

So don't be a c**t, eh? Or are you one of these people who care more about yourself than anything else?
