4 of my mates are still struggling to get tickets - I'm trying to get them tickets, but it's difficult to get them for anywhere near face value because people are trying to flog them on ebay for more than face value.

Tell them to to keep an eye on See Tickets!  They were selling them again yesterday! ;)

Oooh and Facebook fan pages are a good thing too!!!  Good luck to them!

You're funny, you should do stand up comedy.

I'm guessing you're "the boyfriend".

Most of the posts on this thread have been argumentative but fair. And if you read all the posts (assuming you are able) you will see that I said that if what I've said has been wrong then I apologise without reserve.

You should probably go and play with that BenLFC guy - you've probably got quite a lot in common!

guess your maths is a bit off too because your 2+2=5 little man. Sadly for you assumed and when you assume you make an arse out of you and me! But you'll never make an arse of me in this instance because i know i am in the right and your not, nah its ok i am more of a ladies man so BenLFC does not strike a chord, but if its your thing then good luck he's yours.
As for posts being argumentative and fair you set the tone for this discussion with your unnecessary attack but now i can see your capable of some growth well done and your apology i am sure is acceptable to tinkerbell!
Next time make sure you gather your facts first before you launch into an attack on someone you dont know and dont know all the facts. Dont forget you can grow from this!

Yup couldn't quite believe it myself! I've only ever heard of ebay not scarlett mist or the one beki mentioned so thats why I didn't go with them. I'd say would note it for future reference but think i'll avoid selling things on the net in future lol

Ok then I take back the touting bit. Instead you're a rip off bastard. Why not just sell them at face value. 180 quid max. I really couldn't give two f**ks if you listed them at 99p, you knew they'd sell with the demand for tickets this year. The thing is, someone posted an ebay link on this forum about 2 months ago and got the shit ripped out of him. It seems if you've been posting on here for a while the rule changes and everyone gets on your side.

Secondly, BenLFC is a tool.  We shall speak no more of him as he has obviously fled with his tail firmly between his legs.

Yes I fled with my tail between my legs. I apologise for not being on the net every day to monitor the shit storm that ensued. It just really REALLY annoys me when one bloke posts an ebay link to tickets he's flogging for £200 gets abused so much he never comes back and then a "seasoned eFestivals member" does exactly the same and gets defended.

What you're saying implying double standards is essentially correct but only if taken in the right context. For example if someone suddenly pops up on this forum having just joined with no previous posts advertising a ticket on e-bay then a cynical view will be taken by the general populus of the forum, whereas if a regular member of the forum who most people know and trust (and who from what i remember has worked hard in the past to organise the e-fests get together)does the same, then a more lenient view will be adopted. Surely you can understand the mentality of that?
I've been a member of this forum for a while now but don't consider myself part of the clique, however i will come out in defence of those who, from what i've seen over the years, unselfishly dedicate a lot of their time to enhancing the experience each year by organising the shared camp and meet on site.
I'm strongly against situations where someone has bought a ticket with no intention of going purely to make a profit. But you should look at the whole picture before throwing your comments in, sometimes all is not as it seems.

I agree to an extent but I think if you're selling a ticket on then sell it at face value (and the costs to yourself for listing etc). I didn't mean to cause a shit storm and I didn't mean to be offensive. I just know quite a few people who would kill for a ticket yet people are out there taking advantage of this and just listing it at 99p then claiming it was justified. Of course it's going to sell at more than face value. The guy who listed it before wasn't exactly part of the clique but he wasn't just a newbie who came on here exclusively to tout his ticket. I just don't think this forum should have double standards. If you're going to delete one thread about selling tickets on eBay then delete them all. Just because someone is part of the forum clique doesn't mean they're not exempt.

I can understand why Wilko flew off the handle so speak, i've been hunting for tickets for a while now only to be amazed at the crazy prices people are asking for them.  I ended up buying 2x from Ebay (£220 each), ebay was literally flooded with V tickets after they had gone on sale, sooo many people asking stupid money for them all saying the same thing that they are unable to attend now - I was absolutely furious that I ended up emailing one seller who had 2x tickets listed as buy it now for £600!!  Its the same for all festivals and concerts, its not fair that the tickets sell out so quickly that the genuine people who want to attend cannot manage to buy.  Scarlet Mist

Personally I think they should be stamped with either your name and address (and you have to show id on entry) or with a photograph (does Glastonbury do that?), that way it might stop all the ticket touts.

Anyways, roll on V - cant wait!

Libbi

p.s - this is not aimed at Tinkerbell who I am sure was genuinely trying to sell her tickets, unforts Ebay is just as greedy as the rest of the touts and it wont ban stuff like this as they are making too much cash from allowing people to sell tickets!

Join the fan pages.  Ask if anyone has any to sell.  And watch out for people putting tickets on sale.  People have them on there face value all the time.  I got people 4 last year.  Face value!  ;)

No one likes touts.  And by "tout" i mean someone who buys a ticket for no other reason than to make money off it.  They spoil it for the people who want to go.  Without them, there would not be this huge rush to get tickets at all.
I agree that festivals in general (reading, leeds, v, iow etc) should go down the route Glasto did with the photo id tickets.  It does solve a lot of the tout issues.  The problem you get from it is that the tickets are non refundable/transferrable, so if you can't go, then you're out £200!
If they could do it so that they had the ID tickets but you could return them for a refund if you cant go and then they can re-sell them on official tickets, that would be sooooo much better!
I guess they dont do this cus it would cost more!

PS:  Selling at Buy It Now £300 per ticket is ridiculous.

Ha ha Go Girls, just come across this thread, what a complete arsewipe.

Everything in this world has a value and that value is different from person to person, Sarah has been to V for years and has changed her mind, if her tickets are now worth more to someone else than the original cost then that is life, not touting.

I have payed fortunes in the past to obtain tickets for something I want to see, those tickets were "worth" more to me.

While we are on the issue, the largest Agent of tickets was/is just in fact Touts themselves, they went legit and a large majority of tickets get in the hands of touts anyway, why?? becasue the agents run this, it drives the price up and there will always still be the rush for tickets, one by making people think it sold out straight away and secondly a large percentage are given to the touts before they even go on sale.   It is the 21st century for f**ks sake,

I buy cras and sell them for maximum profit, if someone really wants to buy a car off me and wants to pay more than the next person, is that wrong? No,

A very interesting thread on the ethics of ticket selling. As a Sociologist and Psychologist I ha ve found this a fascinating read and had to comment on old news.

I am paid to be objective so should be better at it than most. I have a pretty certain idea of why the thread played the way it did but there is one crucial aspect of this thread that I would like to have answered before saying anything else.

Is the accusation put forward by Wilko of Tinkerbell getting an accomplice to deliberately bid £200 for the ticket(s) to push the price up true or false? I feel this is the crucial fact that will suggest the true motives for listing the tickets, and whether the seller was looking to make profit etc. This point has gone largely ignored in the thread.

I can see points on both side of the argument and there is certainly no need by both sides to lower themselves to personal insults whether it be a Hamster, a dickhead or a bastard. I too have frequented this forum for the last 2 years and have read lots about Tinkerbell going above and beyond the call of duy so do not think there would of been any motive to make profit from her. In truth she probably just banged them on Ebay without giving thought to profit or ethical ticket selling. I think it is also true that had another member of Efestivals been the seller in this exact scenario they would not have enjoyed the support that Tinkerbell received from other members. However, it could also be argued that it is Tinkerbells positive qualities as an individual that provoke this support from others and this should be commended.

Like I siad, for a sad old nerd like me this has been a fascinating thread for many reasons. Maybe there should be some type of Ethical Festival ticket selling guide for people who would like to suscribe to this and avoid making Mr Ebay and Mr Paypal even richer.
