were the trafic jams last year typical of a wednesday morning or were they much worse than usual? still trying to decide on what time to leave. Was thinking of 6am to get near site for 8am, but may leave earlier if traffic is gonna be the same as last year.

In 08 it took less than 1 hour from the m5 j23
In 09 it took roughly 10 hours
both years arrived at m5 j23 at roughly 11am
This year am leaving 3 hours earlier, hoping to arrive at the junction around 8am

Normal for a day with a car crash. Now you need to find out if theres going to be one tomorrow.

Last year was very untypical. we queued from just off the M5 to the site from soon after 8am through to gone 1pm - (the Bus crash happened a few miles behind us in the queue, the travel news was saying it had been cleared before we reached site !) - in previous years i've not been in a 'stop and start' queue until after Glastonbury town, often much closer to the site !

I've only been glasto once (2008) so interested in peoples responses to this so keep them coming!
2008 was pretty much a breeze for us on the coach

Been every Glasto since 95. Always came from M5/A361 apart from last year the journey from Glastonbury to the site has been no more than an hour. Usually arrived pm Wednesday. Last year was a joke, but down to excepional circumstances and coincidences i think.

I live in Bath which usually takes about 30 mins to get to Shepton Mallet tops. 08 it took 40 mins which was fair enough. I think it took 6 hours for me to get on site last year. Hope they get it sorted this year

If you get stuck in traffic, that could turn out to be one VERY expensive taxi ride, so I would go for train every time as it should be quicker.
Tbh, last year was an anomaly as it hasn't taken that long on a Wednesday before in my 10+ years of going, which is why I am leaving at 5.00am tomorrow and I only live in Bristol.
