When i open up the site all of these pop ups appear, now i realise that the site probably needs advertising but this is ridiculous! Last night the page keep closing itself down with an error message.
Bring back the old layout

I keep getting the "Jave script error" pop up that I have to keep clicking time and time again to try and make it disappear. The timing of these site changes with traffic at it's highest because of the festival is rubbish.

There should be just one per session, and that's certainly what I'm experiencing, and nothing more.
No advertising = no forums.

The problem can be avoided by using a browser that isn't Internet Explorer, such as Firefox.

£18 a year? That is a joke right???
All the adds are really pissing me off now! Might check out the ###### forum if this carry's on!

Whats wrong with just keeping the ads at the top and down the sides ?
These pop-ups are really pissing me off. Very intrusive and annoying. Really puts me off the advertisers too. If an ad annoys you stands to reason you won't buy into it.
Not very "Glastonbury" is it.

Yes that's what i'm getting. "all those pop ups" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but when you go to a new topic it comes up all of the time and is annoying.

Because running a forum which consumes this much bandwidth is free, right?
No. It's bloody expensive! Either pay the membership or put up with the ads.

There is just one more ad than there was previously, and an ad that was meant to have been on these forums for the last 18 months but hasn't been. There simply isn't the financial scope for it to not be here any longer.

The site has just had a major update folks, there is bound to be glitches - think of it as Beta testing

I have bought several tshirts, hoodies & calendars from you over the years though and will buy you a beer if I see you at Glasto.

The ads are meant to be intrusive from an advertisers viewpoint. They're not going to shell out money for ads that aren't noticed, are they?
The ads were planned to be on the right hand side in a less in-your-face place, but that caused complaints too. There's now less ads than there was 24 hours ago, but no less shouting.
JodiB, on 19 June 2010 - 09:11 AM, said:So what do you think is "very Glastonbury"? Jumping the fence and f**king over the fest? Or there being a cost for the enjoyment it brings? Not very "Glastonbury" is it.
Just like with Glastonbury, those making use of it are expected to pay towards it. That's what the ads do.

From a marketing POV, that video delivery method is a rubbish ad medium, in that it requires viewer input to actually deliver the message.
Neil, have you though of using the signature space as an ad spot? I only ask as once the user scrolls past the inline ad, the value to advertisers is gone, whereas if signature space was used, it might be more appealing to advertisers.

There is not a new pop-up when going into a new thread.

As things stand, it looks like I'm going to have to make myself redundant in a couple of months, even tho I'm already earning much less than minimum wage.
Meanwhile, I'd rather not be taking all this shite for that shit money from people who think that everything they want they should get for nothing.
