I saw a bloke with a huge block and a little stall on wheels at west holts last year on one of the days, hadn't seen such a sight since '99.

Yeah, but it is slim.  I saw him at around (I think) lunch time saturday, towards the hare krishna tent end of the west holts field, hadn't seen him anywhere else before or since, but at least there is definately ice onsite SOMEWHERE

Can try bribing someone from a bigger bar, but sadly not many will help out.

Someone really should open a shop selling it, but guess people worry it will be chilly - but i still like a cold drink on a chilly day!

Hum... one £200 for one of the cheaper market pitches - maybe next year...

I'm taking a coolbox filled with ice. Last year it lasted from Wednesday morning till late Friday, and it's one of those rubbish supermarket ones. Will probably melt quicker this year. I intended to buy a good coolbox but have left it too late, can't find any now  :(

Some people reported seeing the Yellow Shops on-site were selling this, although I didn't see that or perhaps just wasn't looking as we take about 35kg+ down with us... but would be handy to top the box up with.

If you've got a coolbox, here's a tip for a home-made fridge. I tried this at Endorse-it and Bestival last year (both were hot) & it kept my beer cold all weekend.

You stuff your fridge at home with beer so that it's as chilled as poss to start. Get 3 £1 bags of ice from the supermarket on the way to the festy (as close to site as poss) and stick them in a coolbox.

As soon as you get onsite, put your slab of beer on the floor of a tent porch, chuck whatever other drinks you're chilling on top, then the 3 bags of ice, then a couple of binliners, then all your coats, jumpers, blankets & tent gubbins on top of that. The more stuff you pile on, the better insulated it'll be.

The ice slowly melts through the cans and soaks into the ground underneath where it stays cool. You should still have cold beer on saturday.

Word.  B)
