When you have nothing of any intelligence to say, it's what you do. It's highly amusing, and you're well-thought of for it.

A compliment coming from someone who repeatedly stated that football supporters only attend matches to watch their team win.

I shouldn't be surprised mind, given how difficult it must be to know what football supporters attend games for, when your backside is firmly attached to your armchair.

Still though - 20 million!! If Woy had've spent £83 million on Carroll, Henderson, Adam and Downing, Liverpool fans would have his head on a stick outside Anfield. His family may also be dead. Everyone has more faith in Kenny though - me included, which is the only reason I'm not bent over in hysterical laughter at the moment.

It's defo a lot from one angle, but decent midfielders always sell at a premium, and the fact that wingers seem to be first on every clubs buy-lists this summer won't have helped the price. From one angle, the near-£20M bid you've made for Nasri is even more, when you consider there's only a year left on his contract; against that, Adam isn't bad value.

I know what you're saying about Woy, and the comparison with Kenny. But Kenny probably (most of it was a long time ago, so they're fading memories) has a very decent record with his buys, while Woy has never been more than averagely successful wherever he's been, including at 'mega' clubs.

It'll be interesting to see if Kenny does anything unusual/unexpected with the players he'll have at the start of the season. I don't think anyone expected him to mess with the team he fielded and the formations he used when he took over, but what he did was very successful. Maybe he's got similar surprises up his sleeve for next season.

In other news - Fergie denies interest in Sneijder :(

I've gotta say that I always thought that was the case. If Utd are really after a player - and this Sneijder rumour has been going round for a year or more - it tends to become a done deal far quicker than this would be.

Brilliant. You should team up with llcoolphil, who also thinks that the way to try and show someone as a liar is to make up much bigger whoppers than anything he's challenging.

Anyone might think that you're scared of being exposed as a liar and a fool. Yet one day you might realise that it's your own posts which are doing that. :)

I shouldn't be surprised mind, given how difficult it must be to know what football supporters attend games for, when your backside is firmly attached to your armchair.

some people's armchairs are far nearer to their club's ground's than others.

I get to more of my team's games that are further from my armchair than can be said for yourself.

Boring. I've proved that one to you at least twice before.

no, you've posted bollocks that I didn't say. We've been here before with you claiming yourself right with your inventions, and all that happened was that you were shown as wrong - what you claimed I'd said wasn't what I'd actually said.

I said something close to that, but not so close that your made up bollocks - your deliberate lies - is even in the right ball park football ground.

Ooh look, more lies.

Says the proven liar!

So nearly 24 hours later from this....

Shall we stop now, or would you rather we carried on? :)

... I wonder how much more 'fun' is to be had here by us both? ;)

We've established plenty of times that the closest you get to regularly attending football matches in the flesh is posting bullshit in this thread. You'd certainly never dream of doing a 500+ round trip on a Wednesday night to follow your club.

In other news - Fergie denies interest in Sneijder :(

:D
History would show you shouldn't believe anything Fergie says regards transfers. If interested, Fergie hardly going to go public and encourage a bidding war. Equally on the tour he'll have a load of media obligations, and won't want them bringing it up at every one if we were interested. Better to put it to bed early.

Btw Italian press saying no offer been made, UK press saying both teams wan't deal done, Sneijder's demands have come down from 250k to 190k and as such personal terms no longer such a worry and Inter/Moratti the only obstacle.

Inter's finances would back up the idea of them being supposedly willing sellers.

2008/2009 -€154 million
2007/2008 -€148 million
2006/2007 -€208 million

2008/2009 wage/turnover ratio 104% (turnover €196.5m / wages and salaries €205.1m)
http://swissramble.b...rs-success.html

Damn good player if so, but unsure how Fergie would be looking to line up with Sneijder, Rooney and Hernandez in the same team. Sneijder at Inter played 4231(Mourinho)/4312(Leonardo), playing off the forward(s) and with pivots behind. Can dictate and good passing range but not sure if getting the best of him if trying to convert him to deep lying Scholes role of recent years and play in a midfield two. Likes the defensive protection of two mids to allow him to advance and do damage in the final 3rd. Options though I guess, and would be great in a 433 for games where Hernandez might not be the most suitable option. Be damn good to have a deadball specialist at the club aswell. Sneijder and Young should be a big step up in that regard.

I'm still slightly sceptical though whether the interest is real or a decoy though. Big fee, big wages, checkered injury history, more an AM than CM. Limited resale value at his age but not sure that's really a huge concern. Only just turned 27 so you could get 5-6 good years out of him, and Fergie likes intervals age wise in each bank. 30/27/24/21 etc.

Be interesting whether thats that if we do buy the AM/playmaker type we've been linked to (Sneijder, Modric, Nasri etc) or whether Fergie looking for a another more defensively minded midfielder (M'Vila/Martinez?). 3 out in Scholes, Hargreaves and Gibson and someone on Redcafe gave me concerns about Fletcher's mystery virus. When discussing him missing the tour, someone questioned whether he could've got ME, and a guy with about 9000 posts on there, said he suffered from ME himself and it wasn't that, but that he had heard from someone he trusted that he had some other illness as opposed to a virus, which United are hoping is manageable but could curtail his career. Wouldn't elaborate in public, though sent a couple PMs to some of the regulars before regretting saying something when everyone started asking.

Might be rubbish but if so, not much cover if Carrick gets injured. Jones played a holding role at Blackburn a fair bit, but sale of O'shea and Brown doesn't give us huge numbers in defence considering twins often pick up knocks & Rio's back problems, and I think Fergie would want to develop him at centre back more. Giggs, Anderson, Cleverley not really too defensively minded. Tunnicliffe gone on loan and Pogba, though lazy comparisons to Vieira as he's big, black and French, isn't really a DM imo; positioning is probably his main weakness at the moment.

Depends on how much is left in the kitty and who is available I guess. If buying from abroad, some players won't want to move with the Euros on next year.

Quick! To the Ronaldo funds!!!

No, what was proven, at best for you, is that your ability to read something properly is extremely poor.

There's a big difference between your version of "only go to see their team win" and what I said about preferring/wanting their team to win.

Alternatively you're just an outright liar. Given that we've got here today because you're an outright liar, I don't think it needs to much thought.

We've established plenty of times that the closest you get to regularly attending football matches in the flesh is posting bullshit in this thread.

I wonder what those tickets are on my kitchen wall then.

You'd certainly never dream of doing a 500+ round trip on a Wednesday night to follow your club.

It's something I've done - and that's been for home games.

But also, some of us don't have cushy jobs that we can easily abandon whenever we like so that we can attend games, because there's other people to cover for us or nothing we do is particularly time critical.

But hey, only people like like you are 'real fans', eh? No one else knows anything about football. If only you real fans actually knew the rules of football tho, then you'd manage to be far more relevant than you actually manage. Yes, you're dead right, if the player touches the ball it can't ever be a foul.

Obviously trying to play the "We dont need him" so Inter will drop the price card if so. But, 35m + £190,000 a week over 4 years is a 75 million pound contract. :o

Ali was. Andre the Giant was. Prost and Senna both were. So were Keane and Viera.

I would've loved to see a real fight between the two of them. They were both asked to do celeb boxing at one stage. How great would that have been!?

They're not, but the original stats aren't an accurate reflection either.

He can certainly whip in a cross though - Big Andy is delighted I reckon. The last left winger Liverpool played for longer than 6 months was Emile Heskey under Houllier!

Still though - 20 million!! If Woy had've spent £83 million on Carroll, Henderson, Adam and Downing, Liverpool fans would have his head on a stick outside Anfield.

LFC colleague at work is pretty uninspired by it all and admitted that if Hodgson had done it, folk would be going mad but admitted that is the market that they're currently in after a couple of bad years, no CL to play in, in fact no Europe at all etc... the 'big' players just aren't interesting in looking at them this summer

Indeed. Huge investment and probably the biggest signing Utd would have ever made profile wise. Only really Veron close. Not sure I see it.

Noble splits the camp. I'm in the pro camp due to his footballing brain, good range of passing, work rate, and calmness in front of goal (expert pen taker). He gets minus points for pace, he'd lose a race with Ian Botham, but then so would RFCM so he's in good company, and his tackling could be better.

I'd be peeved if he went because I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to go.
