Okay, so first time this year, hence the stupid questions

Just wondering, what sort of time does Pennards become pretty much full? Just found out we could be arriving as late as 2pm on the Wednesday. Are we likely to still get a good spot on Pennards?

Depends what you mean by 'good' and how many of you there are.

If it's your first time then it's safe to assume that any spot is 'good' as you'll have nothing to compare it to.

you'll be fine - but why does everyone want Pennards!  I'd scoot to the other side of the Park if I was you.

I've arrived at lunch time (between 1-2pm) for the last 3 years and managed to get a decent sized spot in Pennards each time.  We're usually just south of the Park but I've noticed it fills up faster every year

Pennards is not what it was TBH - not least because of the fcuking racket coming from the Park most of the day (used to be all you could hear was the drums from the sacred space - which was nice for those of us that stagger home for a few hours lie down about 9am, then get up for lunch) and the fact that the best bits (IMHO) are now the Tipi field and the Tipi Park (i.e. Tipi rentals). If you're going to Pennards because you'd heard it was the 'place to be' I'd say that's probably a bit misguided these days, though Camp Triangle will still be there I guess, which will be utter mayhem I'm sure.

Personally I'm heading a bit further West than Pennards this year.

I reached pennards at about 3:30pm last year and it was pretty damn full, but not so full that say, 2 or 3 tents couldn't be pitched together if you hunted for a patch.

I am one of those people who had a bit of a moan about pennards last year, yet am going back this year.  I considered heading northwest a little for the park, but to be honest, the easy access to green futures by the path halfway up pennards is too tempting.  Adding 5-10 mins to my walk to the 50p tea tent is, frankly, more than I could bear.

To be fair though, I might change my mind yet, I have been known to be pretty useless at decision making.

Surely if people looking to stay up late and have fun think Pennards is the place to be and head there, then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy?

Are you a bit disoriented? There is no camping just south of the Park. There is camping just north of the Park, but that is Park Home Ground, not Pennards. Pennards is to the east of the Park.

Maybe people are using "Pennards" to mean "all the camping on the south side of the site", rather than Pennards field?

The unknown quantity this year is the fact that Williams has gone crew camping, so it seems likely that all those that have been kicked out of there regular spots in Williams will head striaght to Pennards.  Thus making Pennards fill up more quickly than it ever has before.

I am very tempted as a consequence to head to Park Ground instead, but I reckon I will just play it by ear when I get on site.
