A quick click through the threads just now revealed links to no less than three articles written in a disparaging tone about the festival. The articles were published in (now don't hold your breath..):

The Daily Mail

The Spectator

The Daily Telegraph

Though an initial (and justified) reaction may be to criticise the crappy uninformed journalism and start firing off comments, on reflection I now think this is actually great.

I mean, who actually wants these tossers to 'get' or like the festival anyway?? We get the same old stuff every year in one guise or another - whether its the usual 'embedded' journalist sent into the Worthy war zone to write about the loos or the predictable moans about the cost of the BBC's (incredibly popular) coverage.

Let them simmer gently in their frustrated right wing anger-juice I say. Frustration and pent-up "I don't believe it" resentment over just about everything that they don't understand must add up to a pretty miserable existence I reckon.

So I'll be sparing a thought for these poor journos and any like-minded readers for about ten seconds while sipping my first pint of cider next Wednesday - mainly with a deep sense of relief that none of them are likely to be there. And then I will get on with enjoying the world's greatest music festival with those other lucky souls who really do understand.  B)

I think it says a lot that it's the Guardian that you can get on site.

I'm proud to be a Guardian reader  :P

In Australia theren are 2 cultural stereotypes. Larakins and Yowsers

Yowsers seem to live in mortal fear that someone, somewhere, is having a good time.

Larakins seem to live in mortal fear that someone, somewhere, is having a good time... without them!

While the terms change, it seems to be a world wide constant!

To be fair, most Media and Culture editorials of newspapers are removed from the political stance of the publication, so there is a reason to read what they have to say

When a whole festival gets labelled as 'ageing masochists' I think whoever
wrote it has a big chip on both shoulders!
