Every year I try to get into the car parks on the West of the site due to my desire to camp in Park Home Ground ... Every year I fail and get funnelled into the car parks on the east of the site resulting in a long trek with all my stuff accross the site.
I come down the A303 past Stonehenge, is there a sure fire way to miss the east car parks and make it to those on the west of the site that anyone knows of?

This happened to me last year and was a nightmare to say the least. I would alos be very interested in any alternative routes.

Can't you just continue along the A303 and then head up the B3151 to Street?

That is essentially what I tried to do last year mate, (though I confess I wasn't conciously heading for Street, or specifically that road) I just attempted to go past the site and then turn North.
Perhaps if I aim for that road I'll miss the funnel they put in place.
Tarr very much Halvin, you are a man of many talents!

Just pulled this off one of the other threads. Search 'West Carpark' and you will find a few different options and ideas.
M3 to Basingstoke, then get on the A303.
Keep on this all the way to the intersection with A37 just past Wincanton.
Turn right onto A37 and then turn left onto B3153 to Keinton Mandeville.
At Keinton Mandeville, turn right onto backroads signposted Baltonsborough.
Through Baltonsborough to West Pennard. (small roads but well signposted)
Turn right here onto the A361 and this brings you neat and tidy into the West car parks.

What are the queues like getting in and out of the West carparks?
I've always parked in the East and put up with the longer walks. Come driving home on Monday morning, every person moaning on the radio about being stuck in a massive queue or gridlocked carpark seems to be in the West site.

Can be a bit that way. Found myself in the wrong (ie everlasting) queue out last year. Took a good wander round the fields to work out best way out, and escaped within 20 minutes.
As a rough guide for West, always choose to head away from the fence where you have a choice.

I'm travelling from about 20 mins away on the Wednesday
At what point do the queues kick in?
How long does it take to get on site?
Do you end up miles away arriving at about 10/11am?
Which car park am I likely to end up in if I am approaching from Shepton Mallet?

Sorry Beaver89 but there are no hard and fast rules and with the car parks being open the night before (ignore what the front of the fine guide says) who knows. Each year there are different reasons for the delays. Coming from Shepton Mallet you should be in the East car park.

if your coming from the east head for Yeovil and then go up the A37 andf through Glastonbury town - you will deffo miss any funelling and any east side traffic
at least thats what I have told our lot to do who are coming up from Portsmouth Wed AM

If you want to end up in the opposite car park then using the back roads with a decent sat nav is your best bet. Should be pretty easy as what you want to do is drive around glastonbury rather than through it, its what we did last year
