Is there any Old School Punk at Glasto This Year and if Not Why Not... I am going of course but at heart I'm an old Punk and would like to see some proper Back in the Day Punk.

They have Folk, Rock, Funk Soul Reggae Indie New Pop but No Punk Whats Going on its a huge part of UK musical heritage...

Check out this thread -->  http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=148318

And of course The Stranglers (sadly without Hugh Cornwell) will be appearing Friday afternoon on The Other stage.

The Stranglers were ,and still are, a great band however Hugh C.gave them "brilliant" status.

They were never really an out and out punk band, cor they even played keyboards heaven forbid.

Aye, too musical for some to think of as Punk.  But when I first saw them on their Rattus Norvegicus tour back in '77 no one doubted they were Punk.

I stand corrected, The Stranglers are the only Old School Punk band to perform at this festival... I look forward to checking out the Newer Bands metioned on the Other Thread... But looking at the musical treats in store... think that A Whole Generation of English Music is Not Represented... take for example Ade Edmonsons Excellent Bad Shepherds , they do some Cracking covers of stuff from that period but the original punk generation seems ignored ... is there an agenda here....

The young un's would have loved the punk scene.

Indeed.    :D

The Clash is another one who were out and out Punk with their first album and yet morphed fairly quickly into something more than that.

Oh, and back on the topic of Glastonbury -  The Members are playing in The Avalon Cafe on Saturday.

Have a read of the official site:

Line-ups for the smaller venues:  http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/lineuptimes/

For the main stages:  http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up-poster/

Hi, I saw your Post about The Members

Is it Really The Members... Sound of the Suburbs.... would they play a small stage like that they were on one of the main stages at Isle of Wight http://www.isleofwig...top-lineup.aspx

there is nothing on their Website about it
http://www.themembers.co.uk/tour.html

Maybe there is another Band called the Members Playing...

Nothing on their website after IOW, but nothing to say that that was their last gig ever either.  If you look at some of their tour dates then small venues are not an issue for them.  Fingers crossed it's the real deal.
