Ive heard from about 10 different people within the last couple of weeks from all different places(friends, friends friends, radio, 'sources', etc.) that GnR are going to pull out.

could anyone confirm/rubbish this rumour with anything substantial. people are claiming that is would be extremely likely for Gorillaz or Blur to take place however Gorillaz have Glasto? and also heard metallica thrown about but i just want something firm behind these rumours or something to make me believe they are complete rubbish.

I just cant handle the speculation anymore !  sad.gif

Well there's no real way of rubbishing a rumour with anything substantial, they're booked to do it and haven't officially pulled out. There isn't much more you can say to dispel a rumour like that unless you want to give us your sources so we can shred their credibility, that might make you feel a bit better.

Reading would probably push Queens to headline, which would be a sorry affair even though i'm sure they could fill the job well enough.

+1 id pretty much rather see any other headlining material band playing instead of gnr. Just simply because I plain don't like them smile.gif

I imagine this has came from the cancelling their August tour, and moving it to September thing.
Which I'd imagine would make R/L the perfect way to kick off the september tour. Albeit in August.

The thing is that the August tour was never confirmed in the first place. I think this is going to go ahead fine with no problems.

I really hope GNR do still play, I no theres a lot of hate for them on here, but they were the main reason for me buying my ticket tongue.gif Theyve officially announced a show on the 30th or 31st I think, in Ireland, so I would say R/L is still going ahead smile.gif

Until they take their name off the line-up, they're still playing.

Is it just me that thinks these rumours can't really be taken seriously.

As people have said, their August tour was never confirmed, and haven't they just pushed it back to September?

Surely they wouldn't pull out of their only show in the UK in 2010, one of the biggest audiences I might add.

I'm going to put my neck on the line and say I'm 100% certain that Guns N' Roses will NOT pull out of Reading/Leeds 2010. Purely because I don't see any reason to do so... smile.gif

if it were true then r/l would be trying to get a replacement in on the quiet until they could confirm it

saying that i dont think its true because theyve just announced dates after - looks like r&l is kicking it off wink.gif

Yeah i think the tour was rumoured to be beginning of august, and then there was a gap between R/L and other dates. So i'd say Its the early August dates (even though they never actually existed) that were in jeopardy.

Actually, hang on, I'll do what the OP did...

I've heard so many sources (radios, tv, friends, dragons, etc) say that Pink Floyd are reuniting for a one off acoustic set headlining the BBC Introducing stage - and apparently what they're hoping to do is perform the entire Dark Side of the Moon using nothing but spoons. I'm beside myself with joy and I simply cannot take the speculation anymore.

If they do pull I'm also certain the new headliner will be new, not Queens

It's about as helpful as any of the 'serious' comments on here. Speculation is just that - and without credible sources the pink floyd rumour is just about as substantive(ish). Also speculation is bound to surround GnR because of their history. Essentially, you can make anything up and attribute vague or unspecified sources and it's all meaningless. assume GnR will play until it's either confirmed by the band or organisers.

If a band does pull out, I doubt they'd be able to arrange a suitable replacement. Glastonbury managed Gorilaz, but they're not really in the same league as U2. My money would be on the 2nd headliner moving up and so on, maybe with a biggish band coming in 3rd/4th.

+1

Exactly what I was getting at.

Rumours are rumours and unless you can give credible sources to back up any speculation you have then unfortunately you don't really have a pot to piss in. Walt Disney's head is being preserved in cryostasis, Elvis isn't dead but Paul is, and Phil Collins is an anti-semite, etc - all "true" if you believe the sources you cannot provide.

If a band as big as Guns N Roses were to pull out, they'd need to do it now and Festival Republic would need to announce it now so that people have ample amounts of time to decide whether to still go or not, and like I said, so long as that line-up poster says they're on the bill, they're on the damn bill and they'll be ending my summer with a bang.

Pull them out and reunite Bloc Party after their hiatus would be the best solution!
