Possibly something that regulars know already, but I thought I'd post this for other med-dependent people out there who don't know this...

'Cos I won't last the festival without drugs, like a lot of people tongue.gif, I wrote to the nice people at Festival Medical, who provide the main medical services at Glasto, to ask them what happens if my prescription meds get lost / nicked.  I asked if I bought along a recent repeat prescription would I be able to get replacements, they said...

This should not be a problem. There is a fully registered pharmacy and medical team who could write a prescription if needs be. The pharmacy will not carry the full range of medicines that a normal pharmacy will have, but anything that is not in stock might well be available at my pharmacy that is only 5 miles from the festival site. We also have the ability to order in most medicines without undue delay, provided they are not out of stock at the wholesaler. We should be able to cope with most scenarios
.

Anyhoo, hope someone else finds this info useful smile.gif

They were a Godsend when I got the raging shits last year.  Me: "got any diacalm mate?" Guy behind counter:  'this is Glastonbury mate, we've got crates full of them!".

I take prescription meds too and always take two lots and leave one lot in the car just in case the worst happens. It would be a lot less hassle to nip back to the car than to wait at the pharmacy. Or if you are taking public transport leave the spare doses in the secure lock ups. I also take the repeat prescription slip too just in case i get searched on the way in.

Im in the same boat, I don't think you can go far wrong with having an emergency supply in one of the lock ups, assuming that is either you or a friend can get to the lock up in time if it was that urgent.

if its any help, several years ago a friend lot her diabetic injectin pen thingy and went into mild panic.

She didnt have a script with her but they were very very helpful and managed to get her sorted for the rest of the festival

Their set up is akin to a proper medical facility with full on pharmacy (or so it seemed) and it looked like they were prepared for most eventualities

I wouldnt worry so much but since then my friend has always taken a prescription just in case like to make things a little easier

I had a panic in '08 as I thought I had left my pill behind. My mum contacted my doctors surgery who somehow managed to contact someone on site who said (back via the surgery and my ma to me laugh.gif ) that they've made a note and I could pick up a pack onsite to see me over the festival.

I found them in the end at the bottom of a shower bag but I thought that was quite impressive.

I know some of the medics who work at Glasto each year. They are very good, and ready for anything. Hope you don't need them, but if you do, you will be in safe hands.

There is a pharmacy by the queens head - the pharmacist had a load of prescription drugs in the boot of his car just in case. He was very helpful to me.

I suppose it's all relative on how rare the medicine is and how important it is to you that you dont miss a dosage.

This is reassuring indeed.  My bag was searched last year and they queried my prescriptions, which I'd put in one of those days of the week containers so I didn't get muddled up.  Fortunately the security supervisor was clever enough to know the difference between them and illegals, and I was allowed to take them in, otherwise I'd have spent the first afternoon up at the med centre for sure.
