Incorrect. As with all acts it is totally subjective so statements like 'X are the worst act ever' or 'Y are the best live act' hold literally zero weight.

^^^^^^^ this
Why do people have to keep saying this band is crap or that band is rubbish...
Muse are a good band, hence the headline slot on the Saturday... I sort of trust the event organisers to make these decisions as they do seem to know what they are on about...
if you dont like them... then go somewhere else... I am sure I could pick holes in the kinds of bands the OP likes but tend to keep that sort of thing to myself because as Bench says....QUOTEAs with all acts it is totally subjective

I had stopped thinking about this, but this topic has made me remember how much i cant actually wait to see these boys headline our perfect stage.
I get a glasto ticket every year before anything has been announced, therefore regardless of headliners and this year I have been rewarded with one of my favorite bands of all time.
Expect hype
Expect it to be waaaay overblown
Expect it to be choreographed to high hell
but expect them to blow the proverbial roof off and get the pyramid field bouncing like it hasnt bounced for a few years*
*not counting blur tbh

I detest the band and cannot stand Matt Bellamy. He's crawled so far up his own arse in recent years and believed all the hype about him being a "Guitar god" and just w*nked about in his most recent album. Even my mate admits that they've become shit and he is a huge fan.
However, I respect that people have different opinions to me and I fully understand that they may want to see Muse and will no doubt have a brilliant time doing so and I'm happy for them. I will also be having a brilliant time at either George Clinton, The Lightning Seeds or Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer (undecided). Everybody will be having a brilliant time at Glastonbury on the Saturday night. Muse or no Muse.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that these debates are healthy and fun...
I'm actually really quite excited to see muse. I've loved them for years.
The downside is, those years were about 5 years back
I mean, everything they do has got progressively closer to the kind of self indulgent bullshit that the 70s were filled with where people believe their own press and spent far too long staring very, very close into mirrors.
What exactly WAS the last album? Sci fi space opera? Really? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm an old git and everything, but the day I buy a Yes album is the day I cut my own ears off and feed them to the cats.
I am REALLY excited, I'll be seeing them in a couple of weeks, they'll play songs I love and it will be a spectacle and a half, I'm sure...I just hope they don't spend too long on recent material

Last two sets have included Bliss and Citizen Erased respectively. This may have sealed the deal for me.

Indeed. If they roll out at least 6 of the great songs from the first 3 albums I will walk away happy.
If they play a 23 minute song about how we need to travel to distant worlds and spunk in their ponds....I shall not be pleased. I shall not be happy sunday morning and I don't like that.
Plug in baby, bliss, unintended...there are a good dozen real classics from their early career. My bet is that their big thing will be matt bellamy coming on in tights with a freddie mercury moustache and a guest guitar spot for brian may. Wait and see...

I'd agree with this.
Although if you can look past the last album, the self indulgence, and the somewhat unfounded arrogance, and if you like music of this type, its hard to deny that the first three albums were pretty damn good and that in 2004 on the pyramid stage they f*ckin nailed it.
Doubt they'll be that good this time, especially if they play much of the w*nk off the resistance, but as someone else put it, theres still a decent chance they will blow the roof off the pyramid.
