I was pretty open last year (hell, I'm pretty open outside of glasto) and the police had no concerns.  The police at glasto were brilliant, they care about the thieves, the violent, the morons who ruin it for others.  They are not looking to bust you for a henry of homegrown.

Last year I got to chat to the chief superintendent of avon and somerset constabulary during the weekend and he pretty much said exactly that also...his concern was that people had fun, were safe and caused no harm to others.  The police onsite were, simply put, brilliant; they totally entered into the spirit of things.

Security however, another matter.  I had no issues personally, but I saw a couple of incidents and have heard of much more (although I take what I hear with a pinch of salt if I didn't experience it myself).  Do not let security see you skinning up, getting your gear out or anything that may encourage a search,  this can lead to a heavy handed scene that is not pleasant and certainly NOT in the spirit of the festival.

Same, never had any grief off the police personally. Always found they were brilliant. I have however had some issues with the Security, never been kicked out, just had a bit of grief. They seem very power hungary to me, as if they let it go to their head. Personally think they should only have volunteer stewards on site, let the special security do the stage front, but leave the coppers and volunteers on the gates and to patrol!

The one place they can't search is down your knickers/boxers

They can! Well not sure they are allowed, but they searched my boxers in 2008. Strip searched and all!

We always stash all our stuff in a curry we have on the first day, either clingfilm or put it in a plastic case and clingfilm it then clingfilm the full curry box, works like a charm.

As for stuff during the festival. Me and my friends always pre-roll a load of joints each every morning so its much more discreet when your out and about the festival. Just a case of reaching into your bag and grabbing one out.

Anything that requires sniffing should be done in the toilets our when your groups all sat down and crowded together, make sure no kids are around and try not to bring unwanted attention to yourself by acting big and clever due to what your doing.

f**k me, couldn't be arsed snorting anything in those hot, sweaty, shit filled portaloos. Imagine the particles flying up your nose!

Yeah, but it's gross... I much prefer a nice romantic snort in a nice field surrounded by ladies and music.

What are you snorting anyway that blocks out such a smell? Perfume?

Ive only done it a few times when there seems to be too much security around, rather that then get pulled by them. I agree with you, nowt like having a sly snort in the lovely fields of glasto when you can.

It makes me smile when I read comments like this smile.gif

I'm glad we (A&S) get the balance right at Glastonbury :-)
