'The teenagers and twenty-somethings, the ones who were most in rapture, had a sort of detachment from the proceedings, a phenomenon I put down to new technology.

It was as if they were viewing everything through the videos on their phones, wanting to store images to download on to their MySpace pages rather than living in the moment, experiencing something for real.'

Now that I can actually agree with! I find it hugely depressing... Kinda don't know why. My mate was showing me his videos from Kiss the other week on his phone, and I was just kinda thinking 'I've seen Kiss before. This is just shit in comprison. Why am i watching this grainy clips from row zzz999 of the MEN?' It's hardly quality film-making... I can understand how for many people it can serve as a good memory personally, but the amount of shit camera phone 'live' videos on youtube is just...

Anyway, ran out of steam now.

I thought it was really noticable on the coverage of one big weekend which acts had an audience full of cameraphones and which acts had an actual audience.

There was a definite pattern to it! I'm not sure that anyone actually watched Cheryl Cole but i am sure they will enjoy watching it back for years to....well, untill they lose their phone.

...on the other hand I don't think there was much audience footage of faithless or pendulum - all far too busy jumping!
